In this article, we’ll look at another key readiness milestone: completing the EBS System Schema Migration.
Complete the EBS System Schema Migration
The EBS System Schema Migration is required to prepare your Oracle E-Business Suite environment for the Next Generation Technology Stack.
The migration improves compatibility with the database by moving Oracle E-Business Suite objects from the SYS and SYSTEM schemas to dedicated Oracle E-Business Suite schemas. If your environment has not yet completed the migration, planning this activity should be part of your overall Next Gen Tech Stack readiness plan.
Migration Requirements
Completing the EBS System Schema Migration requires the following:
- Apply AD-TXK Delta 13 or later.
- Note: Oracle recommends updating to the latest AD-TXK Delta which is currently Delta 17.
- Apply the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.11 Release Update Patch (RUP) or the EBS System Schema Migration Consolidated Patch.
- Note: Oracle recommends updating to the latest EBS RUP which is currently 12.2.15.
- Update any custom code to comply with the mandatory compliance requirements.
- Apply the EBS System Schema Migration Completion Patch (Patch 32573930).
The EBS System Schema Migration Completion Patch is the final major requirement for completing the migration. Before applying the Completion Patch, review your custom database objects and update any custom code to comply with the mandatory compliance requirements. Failure to do so can result in invalid custom database objects.
Planning Your Migration
As you plan the EBS System Schema Migration, consider the following:
- Review the migration documentation and prerequisites.
- Verify that your environment meets all requirements.
- Review the mandatory compliance requirements for custom code.
- Develop a testing strategy to validate your Oracle E-Business Suite environment after completing the migration.
Planning the migration early helps ensure you’re ready to update to the Next Gen Tech Stack when it becomes available.
