Oracle periodically certifies newer releases of application technology stack components to provide improved security, supportability, and access to new features. In a previous blog post, we introduced the roadmap for updating Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Release 12.2 to the Next Generation Technology Stack.
This article is the first in a series that introduces the terminology and concepts associated with updating the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 Application Technology Stack to the Next Generation Technology Stack.
What is the Oracle E-Business Suite Application Technology Stack?
The Oracle E-Business Suite Application Technology Stack is consists of the technology components that run on the application tier of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS). The application tier hosts the various servers and service groups that process business logic and manage communication between the client tier and the database tier.
For EBS Release 12.2, the Application Technology Stack components include:
- Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMW)
- Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS)
- Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)
- Oracle Developer (Forms and Reports)
- Java Development Kit (JDK)
