Recall from Part IV of this blog series that updating to the Next Generation Technology Stack provides a new way to move to the latest certified application tier technology components without requiring a major EBS upgrade. The Technology Stack Update Assistant (tsua) is a new tool that will be introduced with a future TXK Delta release. It will orchestrate the update from the Classic Technology Stack to the Next Gen Tech Stack during a special online patching cycle.

The Technology Stack Update Assistant (tsua) will perform a sequence of steps to update FMW (OHS, WLS, Forms, Reports, and Java) to the latest certified releases with EBS Release 12.2.

The Technology Stack Update Assistant (tsua) will perform tasks such as:

  • Validate the environment and perform required checks.
  • Create backups and install software from the staged area.
  • Update the directory structure.
  • Reconfigure the EBS WebLogic Server (WLS) domain, create the Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) domain, and configure Node Managers.
  • Apply your migration patch and any required co-requisite patches.
  • Regenerate Forms and Reports.
