In Part VII of this blog series, we discussed completing the EBS System Schema Migration.
In this article, we’ll look at another key readiness milestone: upgrading to a Long Term Oracle Database release in Premier Support and keeping your database current with security updates.
Upgrade to a Long Term Database Release in Premier Support
A Long Term Oracle Database release in Premier Support is required to prepare your Oracle E-Business Suite environment for the Next Gen Tech Stack. Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 is certified with Oracle Database 19c and Oracle AI Database 26ai.
If your EBS database is still running Oracle Database 11.2.0.4 or 12.1.0.2, you should upgrade now. This will help ensure your database environment is ready when the Next Gen Tech Stack becomes available.
Stay Current with Critical Patch Updates
As the cybersecurity threat landscape continues to evolve, applying security updates promptly helps ensure your environment receives the latest available security fixes and reduces exposure to known vulnerabilities.
In addition to upgrading to a Long Term Oracle Database release in Premier Support, stay current with Oracle’s database security updates, including quarterly Critical Patch Updates and monthly Critical Security Patch Updates, as applicable.
Review the latest Oracle E-Business Suite certification information and Oracle Database security guidance to determine the applicable updates for your environment. For more information, see:

Planning Your Database Upgrade or Update
As you plan your database upgrade or update, consider the following:
- If you are running Oracle Database 11.2.0.4 or 12.1.0.2, review the applicable Oracle Database upgrade documentation and plan your upgrade to Oracle Database 19c or Oracle AI Database 26ai.
- If you are already running Oracle Database 19c or Oracle AI Database 26ai, verify that you are current with the applicable security updates.
- Review the required database updates and prerequisite patches for your database release.
- Develop a testing strategy to validate your Oracle E-Business Suite environment after the database upgrade or update.
If you need to upgrade your database, completing this work now will help ensure your database environment is ready for the Next Gen Tech Stack when it becomes available. You should also have a plan in place to apply security updates promptly as they become available.
