In Part IX of this blog series, we discussed reviewing and implementing Oracle’s security recommendations as you prepare for the Next Generation Technology Stack.

In this article, we’ll look at another important readiness activity: identifying EBS products or features that rely on deprecated technologies and migrating to the latest supported alternatives.

Migrate to the Latest Features and Technologies

Some Oracle E-Business Suite products include features that rely on technologies that have been deprecated. If you use one of these products or features, Oracle recommends that you migrate to the latest EBS 12.2 features and technologies.

Deprecated versions for these products are not supported with the Next Generation Technology Stack. Completing these migrations now helps reduce your dependency on deprecated technology components and prepares your environment for the Next Generation Technology Stack.

Oracle provides centralized guidance in Migrating to the Latest Features and Technologies for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 Products (MOS Article ID KA1349).

What Should You Do Now?

Review your EBS environment to determine whether you use any of the following products or features:

  • eKanban
  • iStore
  • Warehouse Management Appointments
  • Field Service HTML Dispatch Center
  • Organization Chart
  • Succession Planning – Talent Profile (9 Box) Matrix
  • Succession Planning – Suitability Analyzer
  • Oracle Time and Labor Calendar View of Timecards
  • Product Workbench
  • Project Planning and Control

If you use any of these products or features, review MOS Article ID KA1349 and begin planning your migration to the latest supported alternative.

As part of your planning:

  • Identify which deprecated products or features are in use in your environment.
  • Review the applicable migration guidance in MOS Article ID KA1349.
  • Plan and test the migration to the latest supported alternative.

Completing this work now will help you be prepared so you’re ready to update to the Next Generation Technology Stack when it becomes available.
