Oracle Internet Directory 11gR1 11.1.1.9 Certified with E-Business Suite

Elke Phelps
Product Management Director

I'm pleased to announce that Oracle Internet Directory 11gR1 Patchset 7 (11.1.1.9) is now certified for use in the Oracle Access Manager integration with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i (11.5.10.2) and 12 (12.1.3+, 12.2.2+).

Oracle E-Business Suite comes with native user authentication and management capabilities out-of-the-box. If you need more-advanced features, it's also possible to integrate it with Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle Single Sign-On or Oracle Access Manager, which allows you to link the E-Business Suite with third-party tools like Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Kerberos.

For details about third-party integration architectures, see:

Supported Configurations

Oracle Internet Directory 11.1.1.9.0 can be integrated with these single sign-on solutions for EBS environments:

  • Oracle Internet Directory (OID) and Directory Integration Platform (DIP) from Fusion Middleware 11gR1 Patchset 7 (11.1.1.9.0) with Oracle Access Manager 11gR2 (11.1.2.0) with an Oracle E-Business Suite system (Release 11i (11.5.10.2), 12.1.3+ or 12.2.2+).
  • Oracle Internet Directory and Directory Integration Platform from Fusion Middleware 11gR1 Patchset 6 (11.1.1.7.0) with Oracle Access Manager 11gR1 Patchset 2 (11.1.1.7.0) with an Oracle E-Business Suite system (Release 12.1.3+).
Platform certifications

Oracle Internet Directory is certified to run on any operating system for which Oracle WebLogic Server 11g is certified. Refer to the Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g System Requirements for more details. Integration with Oracle Internet Directory involves components spanning several different suites of Oracle products. There are no restrictions on which platform any particular component may be installed so long as the platform is supported for that component. References

    Hi,

Could OID 11.1.1.9 and OAM 11.1.2.3 coexist on the same FMW node in the same 10.3.6 FMW_HOME (obviously in different FMW domains)?

    Thank you

    Oleg,

Oracle Internet Directory and DIP should be installed in a separate Fusion Middleware Home from Oracle Access Manager.

You may refer to the following for additional information:

Section 3.1.2 Interoperability Between Oracle Identity Management Components and Oracle Identity and Access Management Components

in the Oracle® Fusion Middleware Interoperability and Compatibility Guide for Oracle Identity and Access Management

    Gopal,

As per MOS Note "Using the Latest Oracle Internet Directory 11gR1 Patchset with Oracle Single Sign-on and Oracle E-Business Suite (Note 876539.1)", Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.x is certified. This includes 12.1.1.

If you encounter issues with Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.1, OID 11.1.1.9 and OAM, you may be required to apply a minimum of 12.1.3 Family Pack level. The guidelines for error correction are described here:

    https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/important_changes_to_e_business

You may also reference the Oracle E-Business Suite Error Correction Support Policy here:

    Dear Elke,

we have register OID 11.1.1.9 instance and OID with EBS 12.1.1 successfully. After that we have created user in OID and it transferred to EBS , second time users are not transferred to EBS.

Please let me know is there any issue with R12.1.1 and OID 11.1.1.9 ?

In case if i want to upgrade to 12.1.3 , I should apply ORACLE E-BUSINESS SUITE 12.1.3 RELEASE UPDATE PACK (path 9239090) only or any other patches also?

    Hi Elke,

I am trying to achieve SSO using OID 11.1.1.9 with OAM as 11.1.2.x and Ebiz 12.2.x on 2 node shared appl top. I am not getting any direct metalink noteid for this setup, wherein need to know if we need to run the below steps on both the nodes of Ebiz application.

3.5.3 Download and install Oracle Access Manager Webgates as per note 1576425.1

4.1 Deploy Oracle E-Business Suite AccessGate as per note 1576425.1

4.2 Register Oracle E-Business Suite with Oracle Access Manager as per note 1576425.1

Step 6: Run the Registration script from Patch File System as per note 1371932.1

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Tuesday, August 25, 2015

    Guest,

Thanks for the inquiry. The steps required for this integration are covered in Integrating Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 with Oracle Access Manager 11gR2 (11.1.2) using Oracle E-Business Suite AccessGate (Note 1576425.1)

The initial setup for a multi-node application tier Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 environment using either a non-shared or a Shared Application Tier File System is identical to a single node application tier Oracle E-Business Suite deployment. As there are no distinguishing steps, non are listed. One consideration with a a multi-node application tier Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 environment is whether or not you want to deploy multiple WebGates.

Note: It is not currently certified to deploy more than one EBS AccessGate to multiple WLS managed servers in a load balanced Oracle E-Business Suite application tier configuration.

If you do not plan to deploy multiple WebGates, then the steps listed in your inquiry are only executed one time from the primary Oracle E-Business Suite node.

In a multi-node Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 deployment with a single web entry point using either a non-shared or a Shared Application Tier File System you may deploy and configure multiple WebGates. If you meet the requirements and plan to deploy multiple WebGates, then follow the steps in Section 6.2 Configure WebGates in a Load Balanced Oracle E-Business Suite Environment.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Elke

Many thanks Elke for the reply and helping in getting a clear picture on accessgate. Few queries as below:

1). but that means that there will be only 1 managed server oaea_server1 which will get created and that too only on primary node of the Application tier only ?

2). As per 4.1 Deploy Oracle E-Business Suite AccessGate, at one point it says "Optional parameter managedsrvname defaults to oaea_server1. Parameter managedsrvport defaults to 6801. Specify these optional parameters if you wish to deploy Oracle E-Business Suite AccessGate to additional managed servers. The managed server name provided must be of the form oaea_server<n>, where n is an integer."

Please clarify on the same. we are using 2 node Apps tier with all prerequistes in place , on 2 node RAC database on 12c.

    Guest,

    You're quite welcome.

    Response to your new questions/comments:

1)Yes, your understanding is correct. There will be only one EBS AccessGate and it will be deployed on the primary node of the application tier.

We are currently tracking an enhancement request to have the ability to deploy multiple EBS AccessGates to multiple managed servers within a load-balanced Oracle E-Business Suite application tier.

If you or other readers of this blog would like to be added to this ER, please drop me an email with your name and company name.

    2) Yes, your update includes the initial wording for section 4.1. Prior to your blog post, a documentation bug was raised for this section. On August 26, this section was updated. The section now reads as follows:

Optional parameter managedsrvname defaults to oaea_server1. Parameter managedsrvport defaults to 6801. Specify these optional parameters if you wish to deploy Oracle E-Business Suite AccessGate to a non-default managed server. The managed server name provided must be of the form oaea_server<n>, where n is an integer.

    Thanks.

    Elke

Many thanks Elke. This really helps. Kindly also help in getting the below deployment guides with complete steps if possible. Like VIP requirement if any for admin server

OID 11.1.1.7 on multi node with filesystem requirement in load balancer setup.

OAM 11.1.2.2 on multinode same as OID.

    weblogic 10.3.6 for multinode.

we have raised many SRs but not complete noteid completely helps

    Guest,

    You're quite welcome.

For the Oracle E-Business Suite Application Tier Admin Server, you may refer to the following for using Logical Host Names:

    1. Blog Article: https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/configuring_logical_hostnames_in_e

    2. MOS Note: Configuring Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.x Using Logical Host Names (Doc ID 1968231.1)

For WebLogic Server 10.3.6 for multinode, Refer to Section 6.2 Configure WebGates in a Load Balanced Oracle E-Business Suite Environment in MOS Note 1576425.1.

In terms Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle Access Manager, this documentation is owned by Oracle Fusion Middleware Identity Management team. If you can send me an email with your SR #s and specific requirements, I can pass this information along to the FMW IDM Product Management Team.

    Thanks.

    Elke

    Hi Steve,

Any ETA for certifying Oracle FMW 11.1.1.9 with EBS 12.2? Since Oracle FWM 11.1.1.9 now supports TLS v1.1. and TLS v1.2, we would like to know its certification with 12.2.

An early reply is highly appreciated!

    Thanks for your help.

    - Ramasamy

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Thursday, September 17, 2015

    Ramasamy,

We are currently in the process of certifying Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 with FMW 11.1.1.9. Oracle's revenue recognition policies prohibit us from disclosing time lines and dates for future releases and certifications. Please monitor this blog for the latest in certification announcements.

    Regards,

    Elke

    Hi Elke,

Regarding the Accessgate deployment in multi node situation, in the EBS 12.1 document a section is there:- https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocContentDisplay?&id=1484024.1#deploy_to_WLS_Cluster.

Can we do similar setups for 12.2? That is,

    1. Deploy EBS Accessgate in a Managed Server say eag_server_1

    2. Create another managed server using adProvisionEBS.pl say eag_server_2 on Second Node and part of eag_cluster. The run txkSetAppsConf and Autoconfig to make the changes reflect.

    3. Point the OAEA Data source to eag_cluster fro eag_server_1.

    4. Point the 'accessgate' application to eag_cluster from eag_server_1

    Thanks,

    Susmit

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Thursday, October 1, 2015

    Susmit,

In theory, yes, the configuration as you have described it should work; however, we have not certified this configuration.

As stated in a prior blog comment post:

It is not currently certified to deploy more than one EBS AccessGate to multiple WLS managed servers in a load balanced Oracle E-Business Suite application tier configuration.

We recommend that you do not perform this configuration until such time as we have certified it.

    Thanks.

    Elke
