[June 12, 2012 Update: Added licencing information]

Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in 12.1.0.1.0 is now available for use with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.  Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in 12.1.0.1 is an integral part of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12 Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite.

This latest plug-in extends EM 12c Cloud Control with E-Business Suite specific system management capabilities and features enhanced change management support.

The Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite includes:

  • Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in 12.1.0.1 combines functionality that was available in the previously-standalone Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite and Application Change Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite with
  • Oracle Real User Experience Insight
  • Oracle Configuration & Compliance capabilities

Licensing information

A license for Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control is required to use this product. There is an additional licensing cost for the Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite.  A license for the Application Management Suite includes licenses for the E-Business Suite Plug-in, Oracle Real User Experience Insight, and Oracle Configuration & Compliance products.

This is a Development blog, and we don't have the background to discuss licensing in more detail.  We'd recommend contacting your Oracle account manager for more information about licenses.

Updates to product bundling

Features that were previously available in the standalone management packs are now packaged in the Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in, which is certified with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control:

  • Functionality previously available for Application Management Pack (AMP) is now classified as “System Management for Oracle E-Business Suite” within the plug-in.
  • Functionality previously available for Application Change Management Pack (ACMP) is now classified as “Change Management for Oracle E-Business Suite” within the plug-in.

The Application Configuration Console and the Configuration Change Console are now native components of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.

Hi, Jimmy,

I've just updated the article with more information about licenses. If you have any additional licensing questions, I'd recommend contacting your Oracle account manager. We're in Development and don't have training in licensing.

Hello!
Is this plugin available only for linux? Didn't found it for other OS.

Posted by guest on June 13, 2012 at 02:04 AM PDT #

The announcement says pre-requisite "Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c"

The download page seems pretty specific that this can only be applied to EM12c installs that include Bundle Patch 1, while the specific download reduces this requirement further to only Linux x86 and Linux x86-64

It seems the announcement is misleading for many EBS customers. Perhaps it should have been :

E-Business Suite Plug-in 12.1.0.1 for Enterprise Manager 12c (with bundle 1) Now Available (For Linux only)"

Is there a schedule for it's release for other OS's (eg Solaris SPARC)?
Is this dependent on teh Bundle Patch 1 being available for other platforms?

Posted by guest on June 14, 2012 at 04:43 AM PDT #

Hello,

You can expect the Plug-in to be certified on Solaris, AIX, and on HP. Certification testing on Solaris and AIX is progressing very well. HP will be the last platform we plan to certify. As we complete our platform certifications we will update Certify on My Oracle Support accordingly.

Hello,

Kindly refer to my earlier posting on the platform rollout order. The remaining platforms will all be certified with EM 12c Bundle Patch 1. You are correct there is a dependency on the EM 12c Bundle Patch 1 being certified first on our planned platforms.

Well I did not enjoy working with this plugin so I had to remove it from my computer. Very disappointing.

Hi, Guest,

I'm sorry that you were disappointed. We'd be interested in hearing more about specifics. Feel free to drop us a line if you'd like to share your thoughts.

is appliaction management suite for ebs is coming with bp1.We recently installed bp1 with oem12c and also upgraded. Then need to install appliaction management suite ?

Posted by guest on October 17, 2012 at 11:42 PM PDT #

Hello Guest,

By installing EM 12c and BP1 all you have is Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c. The Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite must be licensed before it can be installed. For more information on “Getting Started with Oracle Application Management Pack (AMP) for Oracle E-Business Suite, Release 12.1.0.1” please reference My Oracle Support note 1434392.1.

Hi Steven,

I installed 12c 12.1.0.2 successfully and then only knew that EBS plugin 12.1.0.1 is certified only on EM 12c 12.1.0.1. This leaves me in a situation that I:

1. download the previous version of EM 12c
2. drop my rep db
3. fresh install EM 12c starting from zero
4. and then install the EBS plugin.

What are your comments. Can I continue installing plugin 12.1.0.1 on the latest EM 12c 12.1.0.2?

Regards,

Naeem

Posted by Naeem on October 23, 2012 at 02:06 AM PDT #

Hi Naeem,

When it comes to our EBS Plug-in the single source of truth is our ‘Getting Started’ My Oracle Support note 1434392.1. In this note you’ll find our latest certifications, required patches, links to related documentation, and more.

The good news is our certification with EM 12C R2 is well on the way already. Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification dates. Once our certification is done we will update our MOS note and make an announcement.

At this time we recommend you wait until our certification is done before attempting to deploy the EBS Plug-in on EM 12C R2. If you happen to continue with your deployment and encounter any issues support will be unable to assist you until we make a formal certification announcement.

""EBS DISCOVERY FAILS ON AMP 3.1 and 4.0 WITH ORA-20233: Either the target or the metric does not exist for Concurrent Processing Infrastructure [ID 1109394.1]"" is this note applies to "E-Business Suite Plug-in 12.1.0.1 for Enterprise Manager 12c "?
We are getting error in ebs plugin 12.1.0.1 ..

Posted by guest on October 30, 2012 at 03:08 AM PDT #

Hello Guest,

Starting with Enterprise Manager 12c we have a new methodology to deliver and install plug-ins (including this management pack). I would find it highly doubtful you would be encountering the same issues as reported in previous releases.

If you have applied all the recommended patches in MOS note 1434392.1 and deploy the Fusion Middleware plug-in on all application nodes that run the web tier. And you are still encountering errors then the next logical step is to run ‘Discovery Diagnostic tests’ on your instance. Please refer to our Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Guide Release 12.1.0.1.0 for instructions on how to run and take corrective actions.

If you are still experiencing errors, then it would be best to open a service request and let support know if you have completed a fresh install or an upgrade. In addition upload the output of discovery diagnostic tests showing the latest errors.

Hi,

I would like to integrate clearcase and clearquest with ACMP. Does file host mapping allow to integrate these rational tools with ACMP or AMP 12cR1 on OEM 12c R2.

Some of old ACP 3.1 and ACMP 4.0 state source control can be integrated with 3rd party source control. How this can be achieved. Is there any documentation at OTN which can help me configure this.

Please advise.

Thanks
Jyoti

Hello Jyoti,

Our Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Guide on OTN provides the level of detail you will need to configure IBM Rational ClearCase software with Customization Manager. Take a close look at chapter 11 Customization Manager.

Our current design of Customization Manager only supports 3rd party source control system. IBM Rational ClearQuest isn’t a source control system. If you have a strong business need for Customization Manager to integrate with IBM Rational ClearQuest, please consider filing an enhancement request.

I am evaluating this product for Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64). It's not at all clear that this platform is available and certified. There appears to be an available media pack for EM 12cR1 and EM 12cR2 on Windows x64. However, it's not clear whether this plug-in is supported and certified on Windows x64. So any insight and suggestion for the installation on Windows x64 is appreciated.

Thanks, Paul

Paul,

Glad to hear you are considering adoption of our Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in 12.1.0.1 for Enterprise Manager 12c.

To obtain a complete list of certified Platforms and OS Releases you can use our Certification page on My Oracle Support. Search for Product - Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite and Release - 12.1.0.1.0.

You will be able to see the following:

Enterprise Applications (1 Item)
Oracle E-Business Suite 6 Releases (12.1.3, 12.1.2, 12.1.1, 12.0.6, 12.0.4, 11.5.10.2)

Operating Systems (4 Items)
IBM AIX on POWER Systems (64-bit) 3 Versions (7.1, 6.1, 5.3)

Hi Steve/Angelo,
We are upgrading from 11g to 12c - we are using the EBS plugin also. We have been experiencing issues with alerting on some of the EBS targets. In order for us to troubleshoot these issues, it is important to us to have knowledge of the specific metric evaluation criteria. There is not a metric reference manual for oem12c EBS plugin targets and services. How can we obtain this information?

Thanks :)

Posted by Sandi Starr on April 11, 2013 at 07:51 AM PDT #

Hi, Sandi,

I’m glad to hear you are upgrading to EM12c and sorry to hear your encountering some issues with our EBS Plug-in. I would raise a service request as soon as possible against Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite. Clearly, state how did you get to AMP 12.1.0.1.0. Was it a fresh install of AMP 12.1.0.1.0 or an upgrade from AMP 4.0? In cases where customers have upgrade to EM but removed all EBS targets on earlier releases we have seen some issues. We have clean up scripts to help delete all references to all former EBS targets.

Another quick way to determine what’s wrong is run ‘Prevalidate Discovery’. The output and our documentation will guide you on how to correct most issues. For more information on this topic check our documentation.

• Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Guide, Release 12.1.0.1.0
o http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e28715.pdf

We have plans to publish an Oracle E-Business Suite Metrics Reference Manual in the future. In the interim file a service request with support and they should be able to help you out.

Angelo

We have install OEM 12c R2. I noticed Fusion Applications plug-in and Fusion Middleware plug-in, but not seen EBS plug-in under the plug-ins. Is this because it's not certified? Can I deploy Fusion Applications plug-in and Fusion Middleware plug-in to monitor Apps components?

Posted by guest on June 26, 2013 at 02:57 PM PDT #

Hello,

Our EBS Plug-in is certified with OEM 12c R2. Enterprise Manager 12c has introduces a new tool and methodology to deliver and install plug-ins, called the Enterprise Manager Store (EM Store). Updated plug-ins are made available through the Enterprise Manager Store, an external site that is periodically checked by Enterprise Manager Cloud Control to obtain information about updates ready for download. The Self Update feature allows customers to expand Enterprise Manager's capabilities by updating Enterprise Manager Components whenever new or updated features become available.

For more details on the EM Store and the Self Update Feature see:

Hi Steve,
Nice to interact with you again.
I am trying to configure the EBS plugin 12.1.0.2 on OEM 12C release 3 with EBS 12.2.2

Is this a valid configuration ?
i am getting a strange issue that the discovery process is trying to start the admin server on the patch filesystem and failing.
I can't figure out why it should try that. Would it make sense to raisse an SR or is this not yet a certified combination ?
Thanks
Robin

Posted by Robin Chatterjee on January 10, 2014 at 04:28 AM PST #

Hi Robin,

The configuration you have mention is a valid certified combination since November 12th, 2013.

Below are a couple of suggestions that may help narrow down your issue:
1. Ensure you our using our latest Getting Started MOS note: 1532970.1
2. Run Prevalidate to analyze if your Oracle E-Business Suite instance and Enterprise Manager Cloud Control has been successful discovered.
3. Run Pack Diagnostics for Patch Manager to help troubleshoot configuration issues.

If you’re still experiencing issue after you have gone though the above file a service request with support please.
