In Part II of this blog series, we reviewed Prepare and the work you should complete before moving forward with your update to the Next Generation Technology Stack.

The next step in your path is Generate:

1. Prepare → 2. Generate → 3. Stage → 4. Update

This blog article describes Step 2: Generate. While the AD/TXK code that supports the Next Generation Technology Stack is not yet released, you can learn about the update path and the Generate step now.

Generate Your Manifest File

As described in Part V of the Terminology and Concepts blog series, the manifest file is an inventory of your EBS Release 12.2 environment that you plan to update from the Classic Tech Stack to the Next Gen Tech Stack. It includes information about the files and code levels in your EBS environment.

You will generate the manifest file by running a new manifest utility (adgentsu.pl) that will be delivered with a future AD/TXK release.

Upload Your Manifest File to My Oracle Support

After generating the manifest file, you will create a Service Request in My Oracle Support and upload your manifest file. Oracle uses the information in your manifest file to generate the migration patch for your Oracle E-Business Suite environment.

When your migration patch is ready, Oracle Support will update the Service Request with the information you need to download it.

Step 2 Generate Manifest File

Your Migration Patch Must Match Your Environment

After you generate your manifest file, upload it to My Oracle Support, and obtain your generated migration patch, do not apply additional Oracle E-Business Suite patches before performing the technology stack update.

If you apply an EBS patch after generating and uploading your manifest file, you will need to generate a new manifest file, upload it to My Oracle Support, and obtain a new migration patch. This ensures that your generated migration patch remains synchronized with your environment.

What You Can Do Now

You cannot create your manifest file yet; however, you can complete the applicable Prepare activities for your environment. You can also become familiar with the Generate process now so you are ready to generate and upload your manifest file.

What’s Next

In Part IV of this blog series, we will walk through Step 3. Stage. During Stage, you will prepare the media for installation and download your migration patch and any corequisite patches from My Oracle Support.
