New Patch Wizard for EBS 12.1 Now Available

Steven Chan
Senior Director

Patch Wizard is part of the E-Business Suite's Oracle Applications Manager set of sysadmin utilities.  It helps you identify recommended patches that have not been applied to your system. It does not report on all available patches. It compares the patches you have already applied against a list of all recommended Oracle E-Business Suite patches. Recommended patches can include high-priority patches or patches that update to a new codelevel, such as release update packs (RUPs), product family RUPs, and pre-upgrade patches.

A new update for Patch Wizard for EBS 12.1 is now available.  This new release includes the latest InfoBundle (which documents EBS patch dependencies) as well as fixes for stability, security, and performance.

For installation instructions, see:

What's new in this update?

New features include a new "View All" button to save you from having to page through multiple tables of data, hiding of patches for uninstalled products, the ability to import formatted text when flagging customized files, and more.

    Dear Steven

thanks for the information. I have small question on patching ebs.

Do we have any criteria or utility or any other way to check the dependent patches. For e.g If i am going to apply any patch on ebs then i have to check its readme and find the out the dependent patch and same thing to check the dependent patches, which is very pathetic, sometime it may miss the dependent patch.

    thanks

    Jatin,

Thanks for the inquiry. The following tools assit with identifying prerequisite patch requirements:

    1) Patch Wizard

Patch Wizard Training, My Oracle Support Note 1085668.1

    2) Patch Manager available in the E-Business Suite Plugin for Enterprise Manager

    https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/amp_12_1_0_3

    3) Patch Application Assistant

    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B53825_01/current/acrobat/121adpp.pdf

You may research details regarding the tools via the provided links.

Even with the tools, you should always read the patch readme for additional details regarding the patch including but not limited to prerequisite requirements, manual steps and post-requisites.

    Thanks.

    Elke
