We are pleased to announce that Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Release 12.2 is now certified with Oracle Database 23ai (DB 23ai) for on-premises Exadata Database Machine (Exadata) running Exadata Software version 24.1 (ExaOL8X) or later. As an EBS 12.2 on-premises Exadata customer, once your system meets all of the necessary prerequisites you may upgrade to Oracle Database 23ai, specifically Release Update 23.5.
For information about recent or upcoming certifications when running EBS on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) including announcements regarding DB 23ai, go to our sister blog Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Cloud Blog.
What’s the Latest Information Regarding Support for EBS Databases?
Most EBS customers have by now completed upgrades to Oracle Database 19c (DB 19c). If you are still running an older Oracle Database release, you should make plans to upgrade to DB 19c as soon as possible.
DB 19c is the only database release with a direct upgrade path to DB 23ai and provides you Error Correction Support. For the latest support information, see the following:
- Alert: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 End of Error Correction Support for Oracle Database 12c Release 12.1.0.2 and 11g Release 11.2.0.4 (MOS Note 3051860.1)
- Release Schedule of Current Database Releases (MOS Note 742060.1)
What Can You Do Now to Get Your EBS Environment Ready for Oracle Database 23ai?
You can act now to get your EBS environment ready for DB 23ai. See the blog article Updated: EBS 12.2 Planned Certification with DB 23ai – Summary Part 7 of 7 for more information.

What’s New for EBS with Oracle Database 23ai?
This section includes a summary of key enhancements when upgrading your EBS database to DB 23ai.
Oracle E-Business Suite Database Parameter Checker
With the certification of Oracle Database 23ai, a new utility called Oracle E-Business Suite Database Parameter Checker (EDBPC) is now available. EDPBC can be run to confirm that you have correctly set your EBS DB 23ai or 19c database initialization parameters according to recommendations in Database Initialization Parameters for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (MOS Note 396009.1).
For more information about EDBPC, see Using the Oracle E-Business Suite Database Parameter Checker (EDBPC) (MOS Note 3015099.1).
AutoUpgrade for Oracle Database Upgrades
Upgrading from DB 19c to DB 23ai is achieved using the Oracle Database AutoUpgrade utility as documented in the applicable EBS-provided upgrading My Oracle Support (MOS) knowledge document applicable to your environment. For general information regarding the AutoUpgrade utility, see Using AutoUpgrade for Oracle Database Upgrades.
Note: The Database Upgrade Assistant (DBUA) used to upgrade EBS databases to Database 11gR2, 12cR1, and 19c is now desupported.
