At Oracle AI World 2025 in Las Vegas, Larry Ellison announced Oracle AI Database 26ai (26ai). As a follow-on to this announcement, we want to provide you with some details about how this will impact Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS).

What are the Key Takeaways from the Oracle AI World 2025 Announcement?

Here are some important takeaways from Larry’s announcement at Oracle AI World 2025:

With 26ai, Oracle Database is now referred to as Oracle AI Database.
Oracle AI Database 26ai replaces Oracle Database 23ai (DB 23ai).
- DB 26ai is now the latest long term database release.
- References to DB 23ai have been replaced with DB 26ai in Oracle database documentation.
Oracle AI Database 26ai is a new release on top of Oracle Database 23ai.
- DB 26ai does not change the internal architecture.
- DB 26ai does not modify existing APIs.
- A major upgrade is not required to get from DB 23ai to DB 26ai.
Depending on your current release, you can upgrade or update to get to Oracle AI Database 26ai:
- For Oracle Database 19c and earlier, upgrading is required.
- For Oracle Database 23ai, applying the October 2025 Database Release Update (DBRU) is all that is needed.
Oracle Database Release numbering has changed with Oracle AI Database.

How Does the Oracle AI Database 26ai Announcement Affect EBS?

EBS documentation will be updated to replace references to Oracle Database 23ai with Oracle AI Database 26ai. While the changes are in progress, you may see both Oracle AI Database 26ai and Oracle Database 23ai in EBS documentation. After the updates are completed, EBS documentation will reference only Oracle AI Database 26ai.

As EBS completes testing for the October 2025 database quarterly updates, announcements which incorporate Oracle AI Database 26ai will be posted on the EBS Technology blog and EBS and Oracle Cloud blog.

She joined Oracle in 2011 after having been an Oracle customer and Oracle Technologist (Oracle Database Administrator, Oracle Applications DBA, Technical Architect and Technical Manager of an Oracle Applications DBA Team) since 1993. As part of the Oracle E-Business Suite Applications Technology Product Management Team, her scope of responsibility includes security, database certifications and advanced architectures for on-premises and Oracle Cloud deployments. She is a frequent contributor and editor of the Oracle E-Business Suite Technology Blog. Elke is the lead author of the Oracle Applications DBA Field Guide (Apress 2006) and Oracle R12 Applications DBA Field Guide (Coqui Tech and Press 2010). Elke is also the founder of the Oracle Applications User Group (OAUG) E-Business Suite Applications Technology Special Interest Group (SIG) and served as President of the SIG from February 2005 - August 2011. Elke has been a speaker at the Oracle OpenWorld and Collaborate conferences since 2004. Prior to joining Oracle, Elke was designated an Oracle ACE (2007) and Oracle ACE Director (2009). She received the OAUG Oracle Ambassador of the Year award in 2015. Elke has a Computer Science Degree and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. In her spare time, Elke enjoys traveling especially to Europe, Puerto Rico and the amazing US National Parks. Elke also enjoys hiking, antiquing, gardening and cooking.

Terri is a Senior Director in Oracle E-Business Suite Development. She currently serves in a PM leadership role working with other Oracle organizations, customers, software partners and system integrators to facilitate adoption of the latest E-Business Suite products and technologies, including Oracle Cloud deployments.
