We are pleased to announce that the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.8.0_451 (8u451) on the JRE 8 codeline is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Releases 12.2. Are there any known issues I should be aware of?

Patches have been made available to fix an issue with Java Web Start, where attempting to open a URL from Oracle Forms or any Java applet in Oracle E-Business Suite may appear to do nothing, but no errors are seen. For more information, refer to the article New Patches to Resolve Issue With EBS Desktop Clients Using JRE 8u291 or Later.

Can you still use Java Plug-In with this JRE 8 Update?

If you have not already done so, you should now have plans to migrate to Java Web Start using this latest JRE 8 update.  In case you are still working on moving to Java Web Start, we highly recommend that you uptake this JRE 8 update while still using Java Plug-In.

Note: September 2020 was an important deadline for you if you are still using the Java Plug-in. From that date, EBS Support’s ability to help customers who continue to use the Java Plug-in is on a best-efforts basis only.
