Premier Support for 10.2.0.3 Database Ended in February 2009

The Server Technologies database support policies have recently changed in some important ways.  I've discussed the E-Business Suite implications of those changes in these articles:

Your feedback to those articles has made it clear that we can improve how we communicate the generic database and Fusion Middleware desupport dates to EBS users.

Upgrade EBS Environments Running on Database 10.2.0.3

In case you missed those articles, you should be aware that the 10.2.0.3 database Premier Support grace period ended in February, 2009.  After February 2009, you can still download existing 10.2.0.3 database patches, but new patches will be issued only for the latest 10.2.0.4 database.

If you're running your E-Business Suite environment on the 10.2.0.3 database, I would strongly recommend planning an upgrade to the most-current certified database. As of today, that's the 11.1.0.7 database for both Apps 11i and 12.

Grace periods differ by operating system, too. For more details about the grace periods of different operating system platforms and database releases, see:

Dean:

Hi,
I appreciate the info/reminder to keep up with new supported versions.
Is Oracle shipping a new R12.0.x media pack that contains a supported database version?
I am in the middle of an upgrade project and I'm surprised that the DB version supplied by our 12.0.4 media kit is no longer supported.
Please advise.
Thanks, Dean

Steven Chan:

Hi, Dean,

Our plans are to release a new media pack for the upcoming EBS Release 12.1.1. As a general practice, we don't go back to previous releases (e.g. 12.0.4) and rerelease them with the latest certified techstack components. If we did that, we'd have to retest all of the revised Rapid Installs for the old releases, as well as the upgrade paths, too.

Good luck with your upgrade. Please don't hesitate to drop me a line if you encounter any techstack issues. We're trying to stay very close to our (your) R12.x implementations.

Regards,
Steven

Hi There,
Is there a Oracle Database Client (version 10.2.03) for Windows XP? I looked and only see the version for Windows Vista and Windows 2008. I would really appreciate some help in finding this. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Wendy Copeland

Steven Chan:

Hello, Wendy,

I don't see a WinXP client for 10.2.0.3 listed here:

http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html

I'm not in the Database division, so I might have missed something obvious here. Your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) to get one of our specialists engaged.

Regards,
Steven

Deniz Russell:

Wendy,

Did you ever get an answer to your question "Is there a Oracle Database Client (version 10.2.03) for Windows XP?"

Hi, Deniz,

I can't seem to see one on the DB software download page (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html). The 10.2.0.3 release is out of Premier Support, but it can't hurt to log a formal Service Request against the database product requesting more information about this.

Regards,
Steven
