I'll be highlighting OpenWorld 2008 presentations that cover some of the most popular E-Business Suite technology stack topics. A catalog of all of the Applications Technology track sessions with links to the presentations is available here:
One of the most-popular sessions at OpenWorld every year is our discussion about Oracle's own E-Business Suite implementation. Donna Buhlig and Nigel Cooper, from our Applications IT (AIT) group, have expanded upon previous years' presentations with a bigger and more in-depth look at our internal Global Single Instance deployment:

Donna and Nigel covered the following topics:
- Overview of E-Business Suite R12 products used within Oracle
- Current statistics about our Apps R12 database size:

- Systems metrics, including the number of concurrent database and Forms sessions, and Concurrent Manager jobs
- Physical architecture for our Global Single Instance (GSI) deployment
- Application Server configuration -- with comparisons between Release 11i and R12 server configurations
- Oracle's system monitoring strategy, with focus on Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Applications Manager (OAM), and other ad hoc monitoring tools
- System change management strategy, showing how patches flow from Test to Production
-
Release 12 Upgrade

- Use of "Upgrade by Request" to upgrade 8 out of 20 years of SLA data migrated
- APPL_TOP cleanup of obsolete customizations
- Conversion of historical reports to XML Publisher
- Performance testing
- Upgrade project plan and tasks

Hi Steven
I am now plan to upgrade our system from 11.5.4 to 12.0.6.
First I need upgrade 11.5.4 to 11.5.10.2.
fellow note 316365.1 Oracle Applications Release 11.5.10.2 Maintenance Pack Installation Instructions
this step contain four sections.
Section 1: Pre-Update Tasks
Tasks that must be performed to prepare your system for application of this maintenance pack.
Section 2: Applying the Maintenance Pack
Instructions for applying this Maintenance Pack to a Release 11i system.
Section 3: Post-Update Tasks
Tasks that must be performed after applying the maintenance pack.
Section 4: Product-Specific Tasks
My question is when I complete Section1 to Section3.
Is Section 4: Product-Specific Tasks must be done and for each Application which patch level I must apply to?for example,ATG,there have ATG RUP4,RUP5,RUP6. for upgrade to R12,which level I need to apply to?Is there have some note or doc to explain it?
Best Regards
Samuel

Hi, Samuel,
All of the product-specific parts Section 4 of Note 316365.1 should be completed to ensure that your data and setups are all in a known-good state prior to your EBS 12.0.6 upgrade. This is extremely important.
There are no ATG-related steps in that section, so you don't have to do anything associated with ATG rollup patchsets.
If you have any specific questions about the steps listed in Section 4, I'd recommend logging a formal Service Request via Metalink. Our Support engineers can help answer any upgrade-related questions that you might have.
Good luck with your upgrade.

Steven
