Statement of Direction: Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g + Oracle E-Business Suite Packs

acmp_amp_plugin.png
Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g (OEM 11g) was announced in April 2010.  The new systems management features in this latest release have generated a great deal of interest from existing and prospective users of our Applications Management Pack (AMP) and Applications Change Management Pack (ACMP) for Oracle E-Business Suite.  We covered our roadmap for AMP and ACMP at OAUG/Collaborate earlier this year, which triggered some lively discussions about our priorities.

This is a compelling example of how you can affect the course of a product.  In response to your (sometimes very vocal) feedback, we have begun projects to certify upcoming releases of AMP and ACMP with the latest Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g platform.

We appreciate your sharing your AMP/ACMP priorities with us, and we're excited about the prospect of running our EBS plug-ins with the latest Grid Control 11g release.  We look forward to sharing more details with you as soon as they're available.

When will this be released?

Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates.

Hi,

We use Grid Control for e-business monitoring around 60+ environments (production, test and development), we were planning to upgrade our grid control from 10g to 11g and noticed that AMP is not available for 11g. Would appreciate if you can let me know when are planning to release? Also we are planning use patch manager and cloning features.

Let me know if you need any other details.

Steve,

Just to give you guys a little more detail on where customers like Colorcon stand on this issue.

We have decided to postpone our EM 11g upgrade till the time we have some clear direction on when AMP is going to be certified with EM 11g.

Over the last few months, we have come to rely on AMP features to manage our EBS environments, and we didn't want to loose these capabilities with the EM 11g upgrade.

Thanks.

Hi, Naveen,

Thanks for the insight into your plans. Glad to hear that you've come to rely on AMP. We're working hard to get the next release for OEM 11g out as quickly as possible. Stay tuned.

Hi Steven,

I've found OEM 11g is running on WebLogic. AFAIK it's mandatory as WLS is a Java server for OMS.

Could you tell me please how can we get WLS patches in case our server has no direct access (even via proxy) to internet so we can't get them by Smart Update.

Do we have any chance to find patches in MOS as other Oracle software patches?

With kind regards,
Mary

Hi. Mary,

Yes, patches for OEM 11g can indeed be downloaded from My Oracle Support. You should be able to download those patches using a PC that's connected to the web, and then transfer the patches to your internal staging areas.

Steven

Hi Steven,

We have been using 10g grid control and as a part of upgrade, we decided to move to 11g grid control along with AMP/CMP. Unfortunately, we realised that these packs are not certified with 11g grid control. Now we can't have either 10g or 11g grid control as we are looking to have 11g grid with AMP.

Kindly let us know when we can expect this certification so that we can plan our project accordingly.

Thanks,
Ajay

Hi, Ajay,

We're working on our Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g certification for AMP and ACMP right now. This is going well.

Ah. I have just run into this exact issue; Installed OEM11 and want to demo AMP/ACMP to a prospect.

Customer is running windows; is it planned to release AMP/ACMP on Windows for 11g [ both E-Biz and OMS are on Windows ]

Thank you for your time

Chris Slattery.

Chris,

Certification of AMP and ACMP with OEM 11g for Windows is currently not planned, but we're continuing to evaluate our ongoing plans for platform support. Please follow up with me privately with details about your prospect.

Steven

I see numerous posts from Oracle about the new management packs being available but all links for the EBS version point back to r3.0. Do you have a link for the updated version?

There is conflicting statements being made here:
Sept 7, 2010 (by Steven) - "We're working on our Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g certification for AMP and ACMP right now. This is going well"

Oct 4, 2010 (by Steven) - "Certification of AMP and ACMP with OEM 11g for Windows is currently not planned, but we're continuing to evaluate our ongoing plans for platform support."

At the same time, I am being told that it is in QA (via an SR).

Conflicting statements made to customers only make things more difficult for us to plan our deployments. Is there a way to find out what Oracle is actualy doing about this?

Thanks,
Elli

Elli,

Both statements are true.

We're still working on the upcoming AMP and ACMP 4.0 releases, designed specifically to work with Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11g. We're working on the Linux ports for these products. We do not currently have any plans for porting these products to Windows, but are evaluating demand for that platform on an ongoing basis.

The Linux ports for AMP and ACMP 4.0 are in the final stage of our release cycle right now; stay tuned to this blog for the forthcoming release announcement.

Steven

Hi, Alan,

We're as excited about this new release as you are. However, I'm not permitted to speculate about dates or estimates. I can say that we're in the final stages of QA and packaging for this release, and these final steps are going well.

Stay tuned. I'll post an update here as soon as possible.

Steven

Hi Steven and peers,

what is the best way to get notified as soon as AMP is certified with GRID 11g?

I am in the same boat as the other peers in this site. We have migrated to 11g ... please let us know asap.

Steven,

I am very interested by know when this new pack will be released for EBS customers, because we are deploying Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g with a customer that requires an integration from EBS R12.1 with OEM 11g.

Please let me to know if you have any procedure for deploy Oracle EBS 12.1 with OEM 11g before from releasing this pack.

thanks.

Joan,

Glad to hear that your customer is moving ahead with OEM 11g. We don't have any beta instructions available. The new OEM 11g release requires some substantial changes to our delivery and packaging mechanisms for AMP and ACMP, so new product-level patches are needed.

Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates, which I'll post as soon as soon as they're available.
