2018 Information Technology Performance Excellence Survey

A new survey of IT executives and professionals from several prominent user groups including; the Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG), Oracle Applications User Group (OAUG), and Quest International Users Group has been released. The survey highlights new and emerging trends for systems management and performance excellence that are impacting IT organizations represented by the user group communities on their adoption and transition to cloud.

The survey reveals several key insights in to how IT is impacted and how they are gearing up to manage and operate in the new cloud model.

Among the key findings include:

  • Most IT related resources go in to supporting existing on-premises infrastructure and/or legacy systems
  • 60% of respondents say supporting these legacy systems is hurting their organizations’ competitiveness
  • A majority of respondents see cloud as their future, but it will take time to get all of their IT functions running in the cloud
  • 24% of people surveyed who operate in the cloud, say manageability is improving
  • The most common way IT and application teams are alerted to performance issues is directly from end-users and customers
