We recently announced the availability of AD-TXK Delta 13. This is the first in a series of blog articles to highlight the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) System Schema Migration, a key new feature of AD-TXK Delta 13 and Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.11.

What is the EBS System Schema Migration?

With AD-TXK Delta 13, the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 database architecture has been modernized by the adoption of the EBS System Schema, EBS_SYSTEM.

Prior to the introduction of the EBS_SYSTEM schema, Oracle E-Business Suite installed application objects in the Oracle Database SYS and SYSTEM schemas. The EBS System Schema Migration removes the need for any EBS-owned objects to reside in the SYS or SYSTEM schemas.

What are the Benefits of the EBS System Schema Migration?

One of the primary benefits of the EBS System Schema Migration is the improvement to separation of duties. This is achieved by creating the new EBS System Schema, EBS_SYSTEM, leveraging public APIs and implementing a least privileges model for all EBS-related database accounts. Access to the Oracle database server operating system and Oracle database SYS and SYSTEM accounts is no longer required for Oracle E-Business Suite system administrative functions.

All of these enhancements to the EBS database architecture will also make it faster and easier for EBS to certify with new Oracle Database releases and new Oracle Database features.

In addition to the improvements to separation of duties, database service names are now used for the Oracle E-Business Suite application tier connections to the database. Unified Auditing for auditing the EBS database is now certified. If you are using Oracle Database Vault, this integration has been improved with the new simplified realms for EBS.
