New Simplified Home Page in EBS 12.2.4

Guest Author

One of the most visible (and colorful!) user interface enhancements for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 is the new simplified home page:

OA Framework-based simplified home page with six colorful favorites icons

In my previous posts, I discussed the new skin and enhancements to tables in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4.  Now let's look at the new simplified home page.

Enabling the Simplified Home Page

When you first install or upgrade to Release 12.2.4, you will see the home page as it appeared in previous versions of Release 12.2 (configurable home page with tree-based navigator).  The "Self Service Personal Home Page Mode" profile must be set to "Framework Simplified" so you can see the new simplified home page.  The profile option can be set at multiple levels by the system administrator, including at the individual user level.

For more on the various home page styles available, see:

Adding Favorites

If a user already has favorites defined from a previous version of Oracle E-Business Suite, those favorites will appear automatically. If a particular function has a special icon already associated with it, that icon will appear.  Otherwise, a default icon will appear.

Each user adds their own favorites, just as with previous versions of Oracle E-Business Suite.  Adding favorites is easy: just click on the Add to Favorites icon, search for and select the function you want, click on Add to Favorites, and apply your changes.

You can change the text of your favorites to anything you want using the Favorite field in the bottom table on the Manage Favorites page. You can also rearrange your favorites here in the Manage Favorites page by moving them up and down relative to other favorites.

If you want to change existing favorites, select the Add to Favorites icon again.

Announcements Region

The Announcements region provides a space for site-level announcements.  An administrator can modify the announcements using administrator personalization.

Using the Simplified Home Page

You can use the favorites icons to get to your favorite pages directly and easily.  If you need to get to other pages or forms that you do not have as favorites, you can still get to those through your usual responsibilities by using the drop-down menu available from the Navigator (compass) link in the global header at the top of the home page.  Likewise, you can also see your favorites in list form by clicking on the Favorites (star) icon at the top of the page.

The new simplified home page got a lot of favorable attention when we showed it at Oracle OpenWorld a few weeks ago. We hope you like it too!

    Hi Sara,

Looks great! I realize that backports aren't easy or common, but we'd like to request a backport to 12.1.3 for the UI enhhancements that are available in 12.2.4. Outside of My Oracle Support, is there a recommended way to get this request heard?

    Thanks,

    Carrie

    Hi Sara -

I recently opened the following SR's on 12.2.4 framework-related issues:

SR 3-9811681831 : 12.2.4 - Global Header Icons are jumbled & Switch User icon does not display in Simplified Home Page

SR 3-9811681846 : 12.2.4 - IE10 must click multiple times to launch Professional forms

I would appreciate your assistance in making sure that these SR's are routed to the appropriate areas. I had a difficult time figuring out which Product I should select for these SR's.

    Thanks,

    Dawna

I tried it by setting profile "Self Service Personal Home Page Mode" to "Framework Simplified", but it didn't work, looks like some other setting also required. Please suggest.

    Hi, Guest,

I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered an issue with this.

We can provide general conceptual guidance here, but I'm afraid that this blog isn't the best place to get technical support for specific issues like the one that you're working through.

Your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) to get one of our specialists engaged.

Please feel free to forward your Service Request number to me if it gets stuck in the support process for some reason.

    Regards,

    Steven

Is there a way where the entire home page can be customized ? Is there a vendor who can assist us in the same?
  • Steven Chan Monday, July 23, 2018
    Hello, Rakshith,

It's theoretically possible, but we don't publish any guidance on that. I'd recommend contacting your Oracle account manager to discuss your requirements with someone in Oracle Consulting.

    Regards,
    Steven
