Some of you have been escalating your requests for updates on our upcoming Firefox 3 certification through Oracle Support and your Oracle account managers. These escalations ultimately end up in my beleaguered inbox. The buck stops here.
We are acutely aware that the clock is ticking for Firefox 2. Our certification of Firefox 3 with both Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12 is still underway. As I’ve discussed
previously, I am strictly prohibited from discussing release dates of upcoming certifications or products. I can, however, share our progress on this certification.
Pre-Certification Issues with Firefox 3
We will not release our certification of Firefox 3 until we fix all compatibility problems with the E-Business Suite. As of today, we have compiled a comprehensive inventory of all Firefox 3-related incompatibilities with E-Business Suite 11i and 12. Automated and
manual regression tests have been completed for all 240 or so E-Business Suite products. Here’s the breakdown of the bugs that we’ve encountered:
Release 11i: 16 bugs found, 9 closed, all traced back to 5 root causes. 7 bugs are still open.
Release 12: 11 bugs found, traced back to 7 root causes. 11 bugs are still open.
To give you a deeper glimpse into the certification process, here are some samples of the issues that we have encountered with Release 12:
Forms cannot be launched although JInitiator is installed correctly
Prompt text wraps on some buttons but not others
LOV Modal windows don’t render when defining profile values
Show Pool Monitor on Diagnostics fails
Certain PPR actions do not fire when tabbing between fields
Cannot set Start Page through General Preferences
Personalize page icon doesn’t work when searching on the Application Catalog
Certain windows do not render properly on Manage Personalizations pages
What’s Next?
Our OAF and UIX teams are working on resolving these bugs right now. We’ve already received a number of patches and are retesting them in centralised environments. Some bugs are still under investigation; we don’t have patches for those yet.
