E-Business Suite Release 12.2 available on Windows x64

Guest Author

As a follow-up to the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 General Availability announcement last year, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (12.2) is now available on Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit). The media for this release is available on the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud along with associated documents and patches.

Users must review the Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.2) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) (My Oracle Support Document ID: 1330706.1) for requirements and further details.

The following editions of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) are certified for Oracle E-Business Suite:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter

Oracle E-Business Suite also supports the above editions of 2008 R2 as a guest operating system running in Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V virtual machines.

Note: Beginning with this release, 32-bit versions of Microsoft Windows Server are no longer supported. Upgrades from 11i or previous versions of R12 (12.0, 12.1) on existing Windows 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems to 12.2 on Windows x64 are supported.

Users must also review the Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility web site for information on servers that specifically support Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64).

Where can I find more information?

EBUS 12.2 on Windows 64 bit will have 64 bit r12 executables and jvm ? Please clarify this. With earlier releases till R12.1 ebuisness suite did not have 64 bit installation media for windows x 64. There was a migration path for windows x64 , which will use the same 32 bit r12 executables and 32 bit jvms.

    Hello Mohamed -

Similar to Linux x86-64, the 12.2 release on Windows x64 delivers a mix of 32-bit (EBS app tier code, and some technology components such as Forms/Reports) and 64-bit code (JVM in WLS, Database 11gR2) via the Rapid Install for the platform.

    Hi John,

I am finding if we apply 19581770:R12.AD.C with 18283295:R12.AD.C.Delta.5, we can no longer execute adop on Windows, therefore all future adop upgrade steps to 12.2.4 fail. I have had SR 3-9843274021 open for almost two weeks and hear other customers are hitting this now as well. I was hoping the steps from 1617461.1 would have been tested on Windows better than they have been.

    hi Michael -

EBS Development is currently working on a fix for this issue, with verification and testing planned on Windows. Please continue to work through Oracle Support for updates on this, and I will continue to monitor progress and help in any way I can.

The issues related to adop upgrade patches have been resolved and have been merged into the latest AD/TXK rollup patches. See "Applying the Latest AD and TXK Release Update Packs to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2" (Doc ID 1617461.1).

The new Oracle Software Delivery Cloud (OSDC) requires you to search by licensed product and not by release. For example, if you search for "Oracle Financials" and your platform, you will see the EBS software distributions listed.

    Hi Vijay,

In the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud, enter one of the Oracle E-Business Suite products you plan to use. For example, you might enter Oracle Human Resources. Then select your platform. Verify the selected product and platform, and continue to the next page. The Oracle Software Delivery Cloud then displays the Oracle E-Business Suite software distribution that includes that product. Verify the selected release, and continue to the next page. After you accept the license agreements, the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud displays the zip files that you can download.

Note: You must search for a specific Oracle E-Business Suite product in the product field in the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. Oracle E-Business Suite as a whole is not listed as a product option. However, when you search for any individual Oracle E-Business Suite product, the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud displays the entire Oracle E-Business Suite software distribution for you to download. Consequently, you only need to search for one product to access the downloadable zip files, even if you plan to use multiple Oracle E-Business Suite products.

Dear Guest and Ali - I'm sorry to hear that you have had issues downloading the software.

    Here is some guidance:
Login to the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. Next, enter EBS as the search criteria. Use the "+Add to Cart" button to add the product to your cart - for example: DLP: Oracle E-Business Suite ( Oracle Accounts Receivable Deductions Settlement, Oracle Advanced Benefits )more...

After you add the required product(s) to your cart, click "Checkout" - this is by the "View Cart" link at the top right. After you click "Checkout" you can select the platform for the download including Windows 64-bit.

If you have issues using Oracle Software Delivery Cloud, you can reference the online help.

    Hope this helps.
