The DST43 timezone updates are now certified and available with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Release 12.2.
Daylight Saving Time (DST) patches are cumulative, and therefore include all previous Oracle DST updates.
How Does EBS Work Across Time Zones?
Periodically, a country or region changes its DST rules or timezone definitions. In addition, and more frequently, it may switch to or from Daylight Saving Time or Summer Time.
If your EBS environment is configured to support doing business across multiple time zones, you need to keep your timezone definition files up-to-date by applying patches as outline in this article. This will ensure that the times when transactions take place are recorded correctly, and thereby meet applicable business and legal requirements.
How Can I Determine if My EBS Environment Needs DST Patches?
When a country or region changes its timezone definitions or DST rules, your Oracle E-Business Suite environment will require patching if either of the following is true:
Your EBS environment is located in the affected country or region.
Your EBS environment is located outside the affected country or region, but you conduct business or have customers or suppliers there.
What’s New with this Update?
The following are major additions or changes in the DSTv43 time zone definitions:
Kazakhstan unifies on UTC+5 beginning 2024-03-01.
Ittoqqortoormiit, Greenland changes time zones on 2024-03-31.
Vostok, Antarctica changed time zones on 2023-12-18.
Casey, Antarctica changed time zones five times since 2020.
Prior to v43, the previous timezone upgrade certified with EBS was v42.
How Can I Identify and Apply the DST Patches I Need?
The following MOS note describes how to identify the various components in your EBS environment that may require DST patches, and provides full instructions on applying the patches:
Why is There a New Column in Table 1 of MOS Note 563019.1?
A new column, Oracle Time Zone Patch, immediately to the right of the DST OJVM Patch column has been added in Table 1. This is to accomodate any additional patches needed to support time zone changes with EBS. The first such patch is Patch 35645452, which is applicable to both DST v42 and v43.
What if I Do not Apply the DST Patches?
If your environment is affected as determined in Section 2 of MOS Note 563019.1, and you do not apply the relevant patches listed in Section 3, your EBS environment will be compliant with the new DST or Time Zone rules and transaction times may not be recorded correctly.
