Access to Automated Release Update System Has Changed

Steven Chan
Senior Director
The access protocol for the Automated Release Update (ARU) system has changed.  Older versions of the Oracle E-Business Suite Patch Wizard and Patch Manager (part of the Application Change Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite) will generate errors when attempting to access E-Business Suite patches. If you use these tools as part of your E-Business Suite patching procedures, you will need to obtain new versions to ensure continued access to ARU.  You can find links to the updated tools here: Obtaining Support If you encounter any issues with these new tools, please log a Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) to get one of our specialists engaged.  Related Articles

    Steven,

Not a direct comment on the above article, but I've been looking at an excellent note - 1160285.1 (Application Technology Group (ATG) Product Information Center) on My Oracle Support. Unfortunately though, many links in this document reference Oracle internal site (support.us.oracle.com) instead of externally available URLs. It would be helpful if this were to be fixed soon.

    Thanks !

    Rakesh

    Rakesh,

Thanks for letting us know about that. I've asked the Note owner to review it for internal links.

    Regards,

    Steven

    Hi Steven,

Is this the reason updates.oracle.com seems to no longer be responding?

If so that's a real pain, there are plenty of links to patches in the format like:

    https://updates.oracle.com/ARULink/PatchSearch/process_form?bug=10183152&language=0&process=Submit

What is the replacement URL to go direct to patch download page?

    Thanks,

    Gareth

    Hello Gareth,

    Try https instead, e.g. https://updates.oracle.com/ARULink/PatchSearch/process_form?bug=10183152&language=0&process=Submit

    Hope this helps

    Hi Gareth,

Following on from Mike's reply, you may also wish to review "New ARU Access Protocol Requires Patches for Patch Wizard in Oracle E-Business Suite and Patch Manager in Oracle Application Change Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite" (Doc ID 1267768.1). This is of particular significance if you are using Patch Wizard or Patch Manager.

    Regards,

    Robert Farrington.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks I've updated my post and xml files at:

    http://garethroberts.blogspot.com/2009/11/revisited-search-engine-plugins-for.html

    to change http to https.

... now if only changing all those hardcoded links around the internet was so easy ... would be nice if the http link redirected to the https link :-)

    Regards,

    Gareth

    Hi Gareth,

    There is a simpler way.

    Go to http://supporthtml.oracle.com

    Click on patches and updates

    click on latest R12 packs

    click on Simple Search button

You are now on the familiar updates.oracle.com download page.
