I’m very pleased to welcome Nick Quarmby to this blog’s panel of guest authors. Like Mike Shaw, another regular contributor to this blog, Nick is one of our senior staff in the E-Business Suite technology stack team in Oracle Support. He’ll help expand this blog’s coverage to include discussions about techstack issues at the heart of many of your Service Requests.
Nick is a Principal Support Engineer in the Installation and Configuration Management (ICM) competency of the Applications Technology Group (ATG). He’s been with Oracle since 1996, always working within the ATG area. Nick performs the Advanced Resolution Engineer role which means he contributes to long-running or complex Service Requests. He’s also co-developed several training workshops aimed at fellow ATG engineers which he’s been lucky enough to deliver in lots of interesting locations across Europe. He’s also delivered workshops in Egypt, India, Florida, and Colorado. Nick splits his working week between the London City Office and the Oracle Thames Valley Park campus in Reading, Berkshire, about 45 miles west of London.
Prior to working at Oracle Nick worked at a small software company maintaining an HR application working under Microsoft Windows and Novell Netware. The application he worked with was ported to Oracle which was his first exposure to relational databases. When Nick started at Oracle the 10SC product (the first Oracle Applications Forms 4.5 front end to run on Microsoft Windows) was just getting established.
In his spare time Nick likes to study the brooding British sky and wonder if the good weather will last long enough to go for a ride on his motorcycle.
