This is the second of two articles about a pair of brand new tools designed to increase the productivity of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) DBAs and related staff when upgrading and patching EBS environments.

The tools are called:

  • EBS Technology Patch Automation Tool – Application Tier (ETPAT-AT)
  • EBS 12.2 Upgrade Readiness Checker Tool – Database Tier (EURC-DT)

Introducing EURC-DT

We are pleased to announce availability of the EBS 12.2 Upgrade Readiness Checker – Database Tier (EURC-DT) tool, which performs important EBS pre-upgrade checks based on a set of key technical requirements listed in the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 Upgrade Guide.

Available for all platforms on which Oracle E-Business Suite is supported, the new EURC-DT tool:

  • Supports EBS instances either on-premises or on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (all database services).
  • Verifies that critical system administration and other pre-upgrade technical steps have been performed on the database.
  • Can be used when upgrading to Release 12.2 from any previous EBS release.
  • Works with Oracle Database releases 19c, 12cR1, and 11gR2.
  • Supports both multitenant and non-multitenant databases.

Capabilities

A versatile tool, EURC-DT:

  • Proactively helps in identifying omissions of pre-upgrade tasks, any issues with pre-upgrade tasks, and common causes of failures when preparing the database for the EBS 12.2 upgrade.
  • Can be run during any phase of an upgrade project, including planning the upgrade, carrying out dry runs, and performing a production system upgrade.

Operation

EURC-DT has two different modes of operation:

  • The default mode is check, which produces a comprehensive report of findings without making any changes to the database.
  • The fix mode also produces a report, and in addition recompiles any invalid database objects and rebuilds any unusable indexes.

Obtaining EURC-DT

You can download the EURC-DT tool from My Oracle Support as Patch 32288423. You should also download the latest ETCC (Patch 17537119) to the patch staging area you plan to use.
