We recently announced the certification of unified auditing with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Release 12.2. This blog article is part two in a series of blog articles to highlight the certification of unified auditing with EBS Release 12.2.
What Should You Do To Prepare to Enable Unified Auditing?
Before you enable unified auditing in your EBS Release 12.2 environment, learn more about it by reading the following references applicable to your database release as well as the Best Practice Guidelines:
- Introduction to Auditing, Oracle Database Security Guide 19c

What are the Deployment and Patching Requirements for Enabling Unified Auditing with EBS Release 12.2?
After you have an understanding of Oracle Database auditing, review the requirements and steps for enabling unified auditing in an EBS database in the following document:
- Enabling Unified Auditing in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 with Oracle Database 19c or 12c (MOS Note 2777404.1)
In order to use unified auditing with EBS, you must meet the following deployment and patching requirements:
- Oracle Database Release: In terms of the required Oracle Database release, a minimum of Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 is required; however, Oracle Database 19c and specifically Database Release Update (DBRU) 19.14 or later is recommended.
Note that error correction support for Oracle Database 12c ends in July 2022; therefore, we strongly recommend that customers still running Oracle Database 12c upgrade to Oracle Database 19c as soon as possible.
Also, there are documented known issues when using unified auditing that are resolved by updating to Database Release Update (DBRU) 19.14 or later; therefore, if you are currently running Oracle Database 19c or upgrading to Oracle Database 19c in the near future, we strongly recommend that you update to DBRU 19.14 or later.
- Oracle Database Platform: In terms of platforms, unified auditing is certified for all on-premises EBS database platforms and for EBS databases running any of the database platforms certified for EBS running on OCI.
- EBS ATG Patching Level: At a minimum, you must apply both AD and TXK Delta 13.
- EBS Suite Wide Patching Level: You must apply either the EBS Release 12.2.11 Release Update Patch (RUP) (Patch 31856789) or the EBS System Schema Migration Consolidated Patch (Patch 31817501).
The next blog article in this series on unified auditing will focus on the recommended unified auditing policies for an Oracle E-Business Suite database.
