I'm curious why in certification for 12.1.3 is just says 19.0.0.0 while for prior versions individual point releases are listed ?

MOS 2580629.1 now indicates 19.6 is supported.

    Ken, Thanks for the question.

Oracle Database nomenclature changed quite a bit with Oracle Database 12.2.

Oracle Database 18c and 19c are not major upgrades. 18c and 19c are part of the Oracle Database 12.2 release.

Oracle Database 18c is Oracle Database 12c Release 2 (12.2.0.2).

Oracle Database 19c is Oracle Database 12c Release 3 (12.2.0.3).

NOTE: Oracle Database 19c is the long-term support release for Database 12.2. Much like 11.2.0.4 is the long-term support release for Database 11gR2.

In the Certification Matrix in My Oracle Support 19c is represented by 19.0.0.0.0.

19.6 is not a point release. The 19 means 19c. The 6 signifies the 6th release update (RU).

With prior releases, for example 11.2.0.4, the listing in MOS did not include Bundle Patches or PSUs in the certification matrices. Likewise, Database Release Updates, such as 19.6, are not listed in this view on MOS.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Elke

    Hi,
We are on 12.1.3 and wanted to upgrade the DB to 19C. We were looking to move to 19.5. Is this not support as per certification matrix. Also is the ISG support with 19.5 (Apl R12.1.3)?

    Thanks,
    Atul

    Atul, Thanks for the inquiry.

As I described in my prior comment post on this blog article:

19.5 is not a point release. The 19 means 19c. The 5 signifies the 5th release update (RU). In the Certification Matrix in My Oracle Support 19c is represented by 19.0.0.0.0.

With prior database releases, for example 11.2.0.4, the listing in MOS did not include Bundle Patches or PSUs in the certification matrices. Likewise, Database Release Updates, such as 19.5, 19.6, 19.7 and the like are not listed in this view on MOS.

We highly recommend that customers upgrade to the latest database release update certified with EBS. Currently, the latest certified database release update with EBS 12.1.3 is 19.7. You may find the latest certified database release updates for Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3 and 19c in MOS Note 2580629.1

ISG support for EBS 12.1.3 and 19c is with all 19c database release updates
certified with EBS. Here is the reference:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/ebstech/integrated-soa-gateway-isg-now-certified-with-ebs-1213-and-database-19c

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Elke,

When can we expect the 19c upgrade process for VM DB Systems? We are trying to create a roadmap for 19c upgrade for EBS customers running database 12.1.0.2 on OCI DBCS systems.

For many months the MOS note 2517025.1 Table-10 has been saying the following:

"Forthcoming procedures will facilitate an upgrade to Oracle Database 19c for Oracle E-Business Suite environments currently using Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 or 11.2.0.4 on VM DB Systems."

We do understand that an additional year support has been provided till Jul-2022 for 12.1.0.2. However, customers wanting to upgrade from R12.1 to R12.2 are keen on upgrading the database to 19c as well.

Can you update on this please?

    Thank you,
    Ganesh

    Ganesh,

Oracle's revenue recognition policy prohibits us from disclosing time lines and dates for future releases and certifications. What I can share is that documenting the database 19c upgrade procedures for EBS databases running on OCI (including VM DB Systems and Exadata DB Systems) are active projects that are currently in the final phases.

This blog predominantly covers EBS for on-premises. We have a sister blog for EBS on OCI located here:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/ebsandoraclecloud/

The EBS on OCI blog is where you can get the latest information and announcements related to running EBS on OCI.

    Regards,
    Elke
