Oracle Database 11g Release 2 version 11.2.0.1 is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i (11.5.10.2) and Release 12 (12.0.4 or higher, 12.1.1 or higher) on Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit) running Solaris 10. This announcement includes:
  • Oracle Database 11gR2 version 11.2.0.1
  • Oracle Database 11gR2 version 11.2.0.1 Real Application Clusters (RAC)
  • Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) Column Encryption with EBS 11i and R12
  • Advanced Security Option (ASO)/Advanced Networking Option (ANO)
  • Export/Import Process for E-Business Suite 11i and R12 Database Instances
  • Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) Tablespace Encryption
This certification is a 'database-tier only' (previously known as a split tier) platform certification - the application tier must be on a different certified EBS platform such as Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit), for example. Certifications Still Underway The following associated database certifications are still pending:
  • Database Vault 11.2.0.1 Certification with EBS 11i and R12
  • Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) Tablespace Encryption using Database 11g Release 2 Version 11.2.0.1 with EBS R12
Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates, which I'll post as soon as soon as they're available.    References Related Articles

    Steven --

    Solaris (x86, not SPARC) has kind of been the ignored stepchild for Oracle in the past. Given this certification (and an announcement at Collaborate 2010 that Solaris would be the premier platform for Oracle), can we assume that this will change in the future? Will Solaris x86 become the preferred platform over Linux in the x86 space?

    Thanks.

    James,

    I don't think any of this blog's contributors (including me) can comment on this. If you're looking for a substantive discussion about our Solaris strategy, your best bet might be to ask your Oracle account manager for a detailed briefing on the roadmap for that platform.

    Regards,

    Steven

    I was wondering if you have had any news with regards to the certification of E-Business suite on Intel / Solaris 10 platform?

    Thanks

    Anne-

    While we certify and support Solaris x86-64 (64-bit) as an EBS database tier only platform, we do not yet have firm plans to port the EBS application tier. Please file an SR (under App Install) so that we can track demand, and send us the SR number -- thanks.

    Tauseef-

    The database release is not yet available, and we are not able to comment on future certification dates. However, the certifications of E-Business Suite Releases 11i, 12.0 and 12.1 against 11gR2 (11.2.0.1) on HP-UX Itanium are planned. Stay tuned...

    Hi Steven,

    Are there any plans that 11i, R12, SOA, FMW, etc., will be ported on Solaris-x64? You see, if someone is migrating its applications from Solaris-SPARC in order to get to commodity HW (x64 that is) then why would they want to run their EBS stack in split configuration with DB running on Solaris-x64 and the Apps stack running on Linux instead of migrating everything on Linux? So, in my opinion, it offers only a little value to certify just the database on Solaris-x64.

    Thanks

    Hi, Amir,

    I've passed your question on to the Applications Platforms Group. They'll follow up on this one.

    Hi Steve,

    We are planning to upgrade our EBS 11.5.1.0.2 Database (9.2.0.8) to 11.2.0.2.

    We are following 881505.1 and as per the doc, once all the pre-req are done (before installation step) we will install

    --> 11.2.0.1

    --> Products CD

    --> 11.2.0.2

    I step 9 of the upgrade document where they talk about additional patches – These seem to be for 11.2.0.1. They don’t say anything about 11.2.0.2. One would hope that they are already in 11.2.0.2 ???

    Do you know of a document on Metalink that has recommended patches for 11gR2 or for 11gR2 with Oracle Apps ?

    Thanks,

    Krishnamoorthy.

    Hi, Krishnamoorthy,

    We haven't certified 11.2.0.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i yet. This project is underway now. 11.2.0.1 is the latest certified database release for the E-Business Suite.
