I'm very pleased to announce that Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 is now certified as a client browser for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12. IE 8 Support Requires Forms 10.1.2.3
If you're running either Forms 10.1.2.0.2 or 10.1.2.2 in your EBS 12 environment, you will need to update to Forms 10.1.2.3 to get support for Internet Explorer 8.
If you're already running Forms 10.1.2.3 in your EBS 12 environment, you may still need to perform some additional steps to enable IE 8 support. To test this, launch a Forms-based EBS application using IE8. You need to take additional steps if you see the following error:
'Internet Explorer has modified this page to prevent a possible cross-site scripting attack'
If you see this error, the required Forms 10.1.2.3 servlet components may not have been deployed properly when Forms 10.1.2.3 was first installed in your Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 environment (Bug 8608695).
If IE 8 end-users encounter this error when attempting to launch a Forms-based E-Business Suite product, you need to
redeploy the Forms 10.1.2.3 formsapp.ear file by following Deploying a New Forms .ear File in Oracle Applications
Release 12 (Note 397174.1).
E-Business Suite Release 12.0 Prerequisites
- Oracle Applications Technology R12.ATG_PF.A.DELTA.6 (patch 7237006) or later
- Oracle Forms Version 10.1.2.3 or later
- Desktop client running Microsoft IE 8 on:
- Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3
- Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or 2
- Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.1
- Desktop client running Microsoft IE 8 on:
- Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3
- Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or 2
We're still working on certifying IE8 with EBS 11i. This certification is going well and is in its final stages. I don't have firm schedules for this certification yet, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates, which I'll post as soon as soon as they're available.

Hi Steven,
Good news. I have searched Metalink for information regarding Forms and IE8 certification (Not E-Business Suite) but could not find any. Do you know where I can find it?

Hi, Peter,
No, I'm afraid that I don't have much visibility into the generic Forms documentation. Your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) against the Forms product to get one of the Forms specialists engaged.

Steven

What about Enterprise Performance Manager (EPM/Hyperion), Business Intelligence (OBI), User Productivity Kit (UPK), and Governance Risk and Control (GRC)?

Hi, Michael,
Each of those products are external to the E-Business Suite and conduct their own browser certifications. I don't have much visibility into their certifications, I'm afraid.
Your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) against each of those products individually to find out about their respective certifications with IE 8.

Steven

Hi Steven,
For 11i EBS is there a workaround to get it working on IE8 till we have the formal certification. Any ideas when IE8 will be certified with 11i

Hi, Vinay,
There are no workarounds. Two Forms6i patches are required for IE8 compatibility. We're working on that right now; stay tuned.

Steven

Hi Guys,
Just an update. We are EBS R12.0.4 users We got over this issue by simply adding the EBS URL into the Trusted Sites of the local Intranet. Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security Tab -> Select Local Intranet -> Press the Sites Button -> Press the Advanced Button & add the URL here. We have around 20 users whom we have upgraded to IE8. Well seems to be working fine with us so far.
All the best.

Hi Steven,
Just a clarification on this post. We meet all the pre-requisites above. Does that mean that IE8 should "just work" or is there a patch to add IE8 support which requires the above mentioned pre-reqs?
Thanks,
Andy

Hi, Andy,
It's easy to check whether your environment is ready for IE8 users: just connect to EBS 12 with IE 8 and attempt to launch a Forms-based product.
If it doesn't work, you should check that your Forms 10.1.2.3 servlet has been deployed correctly. See Note 389422.1 for details.
Good luck with this. Please don't hesitate to forward your Service Request number to me if you encounter any issues.
Regards,
Steven
