Oracle Access Manager 11.1.2.3 Certified with E-Business Suite

By: Elke Phelps | Product Management Director

I am pleased to announce that Oracle Access Manager 11gR2 Patchset 3 (11.1.2.3.0) is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i (11.5.10.2) and 12 (12.1.3+, 12.2.2+).  If you are implementing single sign-on for the first time, or are an existing Oracle Access Manager user, you may integrate with Oracle Access Manager 11gR2 using Oracle Access Manager WebGate and Oracle E-Business Suite AccessGate.

Platforms Certified

The Oracle E-Business Suite AccessGate Java application is certified to run on any operating system for which Oracle WebLogic Server 11g is certified.  You may refer to the Oracle Fusion Middleware Release 11g (11.1.1.x) Certification Matrix for more details.

For information on supported platforms for Oracle Access Manager 11gR2 and its components, you may refer to the Oracle Identity and Access Management 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.3.0) Certification Matrix.

Integration with Oracle Access Manager involves components spanning several different suites of Oracle products. There are no restrictions on which platform any particular component may be installed so long as the platform is supported for that component.

Choosing the Right Integration

Our previously published blog article and support note with single sign-on recommended and certified integration paths has been updated to include Oracle Access Manager 11gR2PS2:

    Hi,

We are currently running Access manager 11.1.2.2 integrated with Oracle EBS Apps 12.1.3.

Can you point me to the note to upgrade it to 11.1.2.3?

    Thanks,

    ~ Samir

    Samir,

Each of the related My Oracle Support Notes for integrating Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i, 12 and 12.2 with Oracle Access Manager includes a section on "Upgrades and Migration".

For Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (which includes 12.1.3), you may refer to "Section 10: Oracle Access Manager Upgrade and Migration" in My Oracle Support Note 1484024.1, "Integrating Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 with Oracle Access Manager 11gR2 (11.1.2) using Oracle E-Business Suite AccessGate".

    Thanks.

    Elke

Thanks Elke for your response. I found the note and looking at it.

One last question: Where can I find new changes and features of 11.1.2.3.0? I would like to know the difference between 11.1.2.2.0 and 11.1.2.3.0.

    Thanks,

    ~ Samir

    Samir,

New features that are generally available in Oracle Access Manager 11.1.2.3 are documented in the Fusion Middleware Identity Management Release Notes located here:

    https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E52734_01/core/IDMRN/oim.htm#IDMRN403

NOTE: Not all features that available with Oracle Access Manager can be used with an Oracle E-Business Suite integrated instance.

    Thanks.

    Elke

Wow... 11.1.2.3, requires EM, and adds two more managed servers talk about bloatware. Add to this the accessgate and webgate all to enable SSO and not to mention 11.1.2.2 gets its last CPU patch in 2016 so we are pretty much forced to go to 11.1.2.3

Any possibility of a whitepaper on reducing the SSO footprint for eBusiness?

Pretty sure we need EM with 11.1.2.3 because you can only do some configuration within EM now but do we really need the two additional managed servers?

    Hi,

Can you point me to the note which shows end of life for OAM 11gR2?

    Thanks,

    ~ Samir

  • guest Wednesday, August 5, 2015

It didn't say end of life but the July CPU note said sometime in 2016 was the last CPU for OAM 11.1.2.2

  • guest Wednesday, August 5, 2015

OAM 11gR2 is supported until 2018, OAM 11.1.2.3 is part of 11gR2, it is just 11.1.2.2 that looses support (or CPUs)...

Sorry...I misunderstood. Can you provide me the note id which shows end of CPU patches date for 11.1.2.2? This will help us to plan the upgrade timeframe for 11.1.2.3.

    Thanks again!

    Samir,

The information is in the July 2015 CPU Note:

Patch Set Update and Critical Patch Update July 2015 Availability Document (Doc ID 2005667.1)

In section 3.3.20.10 Oracle Identity Access Management 11.1.2.2 of Note 2005667.1, you will find: Final Patch for OAM 11.1.2.2 is April 2016.

    Thanks.

    Guest,

Thanks for your comments and questions.

The single sign-on footprint is reduced with Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2. With Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2, we are leveraging the WebLogic Server deployed with the Oracle E-Business Suite application tier technology stack to deploy EBS AccessGate. You may learn more about this in the following MOS Note:

    - Overview of Single Sign-On Integration Options for Oracle E-Business Suite (Note 1388152.1)

Oracle Access Manager 11.1.2.3 does not require EM. EM is optional. EM can assist with configuration management if you desire to use it.

In terms of the managed servers:

    - oam_server1 is required for Oracle Access Manager (OAM)

    - omsm_server1 is required if you are using Oracle Mobile Security Suite )(OMSS

    - oam_policy_mgr1 is required for admin console configuration actions in support of OAM and OMSS

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Elke

    Hi,

Your document for single node is good. We are able to sccessfully done it. Can you please provide Document for OAM Cluster configuration for HA so that if one node of OAM goes down it should sustain with another node for Authendication with EBS ?

    Regards,

    Prashanth

  • Elke Phelps (Oracle Development) Wednesday, August 12, 2015

    Prashanth,

Thank you for the update. It's nice to hear that your single node OAM deployment was successful.

Advanced Oracle Access Manager configuration is covered in the Oracle® Fusion Middleware High Availability Guide for Oracle Identity and Access Management.

A link to this guide is available in the "Available Documentation" section of the corresponding Integrating Oracle E-Business Suite with Oracle Access Manager 11gR2 MOS Note. I'm including the link here for your convenience:

    https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E52734_01/core/ASHIA/toc.htm

In addition to the above document, you should review the corresponding integration note for your version of Oracle E-Business Suite for any required steps for deploying EBS AccessGate with WebLogic clustered servers.

    Thanks.

    Elke
