November 2018 Update to E-Business Suite Technology Codelevel Checker (ETCC)

Steven Chan
Senior Director

The E-Business Suite Technology Codelevel Checker (ETCC) tool helps you identify application or database tier overlay patches that need to be applied to your Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 system. ETCC maps missing overlay patches to the default corresponding Database Patch Set Update (PSU) patches, and displays them in a patch recommendation summary.

What’s New

ETCC has been updated to include bug fixes and patching combinations for the following recommended versions of the following updates:

  • Oracle Database Proactive BP 12.1.0.2.181016
  • Oracle Database PSU 12.1.0.2.181016
  • Oracle JavaVM Component Database PSU 12.1.0.2.181016
  • Oracle Database Patch for Exadata BP 12.1.0.2.181016
  • Oracle Database PSU 12.1.0.2.181016
  • Oracle JavaVM Component Database PSU 12.1.0.2.181016
  • Microsoft Windows Database BP 12.1.0.2.181016
  • Oracle JavaVM Component 12.1.0.2.181016 on Windows
  • Microsoft Windows Database BP 12.1.0.2.181016
  • Oracle JavaVM Component 12.1.0.2.181016 on Windows

Obtaining ETCC

We recommend always using the latest version of ETCC, as new bugfixes will not be checked by older versions of the utility. The latest version of the ETCC tool can be downloaded via Patch 17537119 from My Oracle Support.

    hi Steven;
can this be back ported to 12.1.3?
  • Steven Chan Wednesday, November 14, 2018
    Hi, John,

I'm afraid not. This utility depends upon metadata-related infrastructure and an internal release process for managing patches and patch dependencies for EBS 12.2 itself. Backporting the utility to EBS 12.1 would require us to backport the metadata infrastructure (tools and processes), too, which would effectively result in... building EBS 12.2 in EBS 12.1. As you can imagine, we don't have the resources to do that.

    Regards,
    Steven

    Hi Steven,

Accordng to the "Release Schedule of Current Database Releases (Doc ID 742060.1)" extended Support fees for Database 12.1.0.2 waived through July 31, 2019.

Beginning Aug 1, 2019 an ES service contract is required.

At the same time EBS R12.x is not certified with Database 12.2 or higher

Could you please elaborate on how this will affect the EBS R12.x implementations?

    Thanks in advance
    Kind regards
    Mariana

    Mariana,

    Thanks for the inquiry.

The certification of the next database release for EBS 12.1 and 12.2 is our top priority. This certification is more complex than some prior certifications due to changes in support of certain database features, but we are working closely with the database group to resolve open issues. At this point, we anticipate that the next version we certify will be Database 19c. Database 19 is the "Long Term Support" release of the Database 12.2 line, in the same way that 11.2.0.4 was the Long Term Support patchset on the 11.2 lines. Database versions 12.2 and 18 will have relatively shorter support lives compared to 19.

If you require a waiver to Extended Support fees, you should work with your Oracle Account Team to request an Extended Support waiver.

    Regards,
    Elke
