EBS 12.1 Extended Support Fees Waived for First Year

In response to concerns raised by the Oracle Applications User Group Support Council, Oracle has waived the first year of EBS 12.1 Extended Support fees.

This waiver will be valid from June 2014 to May 2015.  During this period, customers receive access to Extended Support features at no additional cost other than their fees for Software Update License & Support.

For more details about this waiver, see:

Use this time wisely -- upgrade to 12.1.3 now

The clock is on: E-Business Suite 11i and 12.0 customers should upgrade to E-Business Suite 12.1 as soon as possible.  Extended Support for EBS 11.5.0 ends in November 2013.  Premier Support for EBS 12.0 ends in January 2012.

Interesting - I saw that in the October EBS CRM newsletter.

Any insight into why this is being done? I mean, 12.1 is the latest and greatest version (Docs for 12.2 are released but not the software to my knowledge) - it seems odd for Oracle to extend (ok, waiver the extended support fee for the first year) the support for their latest product - that's usually done as product is approaching its extended support cut over date.

Is this related to the major architecture change (Weblogic) in 12.2?

Hi, Jay,

Some customers have expressed concern that the current support timeline for EBS 12.1 is too short. That is, they'll invest a lot of effort to get to that release only to find that they need to start on their 12.2 implementation.

This change gives them another year on 12.1.

Steven

Hello Steven,
question is about 12.0.6. Are there any information about fees waived for this release for first year of ES?
Thanks in advance.

Hello, Alex,

There are no changes to the support policies for EBS 12.0. At this stage, I wouldn't expect any. We encourage all EBS 12.0 customers to upgrade to 12.1.

Regards,
Steven

Hello, Martin,

My apologies for the delay in responding to this. I was waiting for some
internal approvals to discuss EBS 12.0 Extended Support policy changes. This
information is now published here:

Extended Support Fees Waived for E-Business Suite 11i and 12.0
https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/extended_support_fees_waived_for

As stated in that article:

"Customers with an active Oracle Premier Support for Software contract
will automatically be entitled to Extended Support coverage for EBS 11i and
12.0."

Regards,
Steven
