Upgrading EBS 12 to DB 11g with Physical Standby Enabled

Steven Chan
Senior Director
It's possible to use Oracle Data Guard to create physical standby databases for disaster recovery.  E-Business Suite users can configure their environments with the latest version of Oracle Data Guard 11g by following the documents linked in this article: When upgrading a database to a new release, you can upgrade the Data Guard Physical Standby database inline to minimize the downtime. To achieve this in an EBS 12 environment, additional manual configuration steps are needed on both the primary and standby systems.  These manual steps allow redo to be shipped from the primary and applied on the standby during the upgrade.

After the upgrade, the primary and physical standby will be in sync, and the physical standby should be reconfigured using AutoConfig. We have now published EBS 12-specific documentation covering this upgrade scenario for both 11gR1 and 11gR2 databases: Related Articles

    Hi Steven,

The procedure described in 1161973.1, can we use that for Oracle Apps 11i?

    Hi, Guest,

No, that Note is written specifically for EBS 12. For physical standby for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i environments and the 11g Database, please see the latest links in this article:
