Accompanying my announcement earlier today about Single Sign-On and Oracle Internet Directory, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to hear that OracleAS 10.1.2.3 may now be applied to Portal 10.1.4 environments that have been integrated with Oracle
E-Business Suite Release 11i.
It never hurts to repeat the basics, since Google searches tend to yield isolated articles and not chains of loosely related ones. This patch set’s full name is:
- Oracle Application Server and Oracle Developer Suite 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Patch Set 3 (10.1.2.3.0)
(released as patch 5983622, a.k.a. “OracleAS 10g Release 2 Patch Set 3″)
This certification means that you can apply the Portal-related components of OracleAS 10g Release 2 Patch Set 3 on top of your existing Portal 10.1.4 or 10.1.4.1 environments that have been integrated with the E-Business
Suite. The Portal patching process and requirements are a little weird, even to a hardened Oracle veteran like me. Rather than launch into a discursive and possibly futile attempt to explain Portal numbering standards and their relationships to
various OracleAS Metadata Repository versions, I’ll simply sidestep the whole issue and recommend that you review the README for patch 5983622 carefully.
