Oracle VM Templates Available for E-Business Suite Release 12.2.2

Terri Noyes
Product Management Director

Oracle VM Templates for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.2 are now available here:

Templates are available for:

  • Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.2 Vision Demo Database Tier Install (64-bit Linux)
  • Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.2 Production Database Tier Install (64-bit Linux)
  • Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.2 Application Tier Install (64-bit Linux)
  • Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.2 Sparse Application Tier Install (64-bit Linux - Oracle Linux 5.9)
  • Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.2 Sparse Application Tier Install (64-bit Linux - Oracle Linux 6.4)

These Oracle VM Templates allow you to quickly build E-Business Suite 12.2.2 environments on Oracle Linux virtual machines for demonstration, development or production use.  The templates deliver the full software stack, including the operating system, required technology components, and Oracle E-Business Suite itself.

You can deploy these templates on any industry-standard x86-based hardware certified for Oracle VM and Oracle Linux. An Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.2 installation requires two templates, one for the database and one for the primary application tier.   You can choose from two database templates, depending on whether you will deploy a Vision demonstration system or an empty production instance.  In addition to the database template and the primary application tier template, you can optionally deploy a "sparse middle tier" template to add secondary application tiers.

Are there any plans to provide 12.2.2 templates for Oracle Virtual Box?

We would love to be able to start working on our upgrade plan but do not have an OVM server. It would also be nice to put 12.2 on a laptop for presentations to our functional staff in the field.

    Thank you.

We understand the value and are certainly weighing this.

Thanks for your interest, and stay tuned...

    Hello Batbileg,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble ? Did the other managed servers come up OK and just the forms is failing ? Is ur hostname in uppercase by any chance ?

Can u tell me what echo $HOSTNAME returns on ur VM ?

If the hostname is in uppercase, we have a known issue that is fixed in 12.2.3 . Nothing to do with VM template but a generic issue with the WLS configuration.

  • Batbileg Friday, December 20, 2013

All four of the managed servers are throwing same errors.

    forms_server1

    forms-c4ws_server1

    oafm_server1

    oacore_server1

    Hostname includes upper case letter.

    Hostname: EBizApp

I guess that is the issue. We are expecting the hostnames to be in lowercase and this issue is fixed in 12.2.3 Maintenance pack update. The workarounds for now are the following:

    1. Delete the VM and use a lowercase hostname.

    2. Manually change the node_info.txt file for the managed servers to a lowercase hostname and restart the Managed servers. This is a temporary workaround.

Will these templates become available as Amazon AMIs

If not is there a way to import them into AWS ?

    Thanks

    Iain

Iaian- I suggest you contact Amazon directly with questions about running EBS 12.2 on AWS/EC2.

  • Konrad Tuesday, February 18, 2014

    Hi Steven,

Do you know if this template provides a fully featured EBS12.2 including and up and running ISG (Integrated SOA Gateway) setup?

    Thx

    Konrad

  • Noby Joseph Tuesday, February 18, 2014

    Hello Konrad,

The template does not have ISG setup. It still remains an external integration.

Let us know if you need more information.

    Hello, Guest,

I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered an issue with this.

We can provide general conceptual guidance here, but I'm afraid that this blog isn't the best place to get technical support for specific issues like the one that you're working through.

Your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) to get one of our specialists engaged.

    Regards,

    Steven
