Web-based content in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 is supported by the Oracle Application Framework (also known as OA Framework, OAF, or FWK) user interface libraries and associated infrastructure. We periodically release OAF updates to fix performance, security, and stability issues.
How Do OAF Updates Work?
Updates are supplied in three distinct types of packages, to meet different deployment requirements:
- Cumulative Release Update Packs (RUPs).
- Cumulative Bundle Patches (BPs), typically referred to as Bundles.
- Consolidated Patches.
Note the following important points about these updates:
- Cumulative means that the latest RUP or Bundle includes all the updates provided in previous RUPs or Bundles for a given EBS release.
- RUPs and Bundles can only be applied to the specified EBS release. For example, a Bundle for Release 12.2.14 cannot be applied to Release 12.2.13.
- The only exception to this is that a Bundle for Release 12.2.7 can also be applied to Release 12.2.8, as these two releases share a codeline.
- Bundles are the most frequent type of update.
- Bundles can be applied on top of the corresponding RUPs.
- A Consolidated Patch may be provided shortly after a major EBS release (such as 12.2.14) before the first Bundle for that release, typically Bundle 1.
We strongly recommend adopting a policy of applying the latest BP or consolidated patch at your earliest convenience, to take advantage of fixes both in it and its predecessors.
