Mozilla Firefox Browser Extended Support Release (ESR) 78.x is now certified as a Windows-based client browser and MacOS-based client browser for Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.2 and 12.1
Firefox ESR 78.x is certified for both Oracle E-Business Suite web-based (OA Framework/HTML) and Oracle Forms/Java-based interfaces provided the minimum requirements for deployment are met. For additional information refer to the following:
- Recommended Browsers for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (MOS Note 389422.1)
- Oracle E-Business Suite Release Notes Release 12 for macOS (OS X), (MOS Note 1533334.1)

- Using Java Web Start with Oracle E-Business Suite (MOS Note 2188898.1)
Mozilla removed plug-in support starting with Firefox ESR 60. This means Firefox ESR 60 and higher cannot run Forms-based content in EBS using the Java plug-in method.
If your Firefox ESR 60 and higher end-users run Forms-based content in EBS, you must switch from the JRE plug-in to Java Web Start.
What is Mozilla Firefox ESR?
Mozilla offers an Extended Support Release based on an official release of Firefox for organizations that are unable to mass-deploy new consumer-oriented versions of Firefox every four weeks. You may find more information here: Firefox Overview.
EBS Compatibility with Firefox ESR Point ReleasesMozilla may release new point release updates (e.g. FF ESR 78.2.0, FF ESR 78.3.0, etc) to address high-risk/high-impact security issues. These updates are considered to be certified with the E-Business Suite on the day that they’re released. You do not need to wait for a certification from Oracle before deploying these new Firefox ESR security updates.
