E-Business Suite Release 12 Certified With Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (Windows x64)

John Abraham
I am pleased to announce that Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (12.1.1 or higher) is now certified with Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) on both the application and database tiers through a certified migration of an existing Release 12 installation. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 is a Windows x64 (64-bit) only operating system and is the latest Windows server version. Support of the E-Business Suite on this platform is achieved by a two-step process of migrating the Oracle Database first (as documented in the 11gR2 Database Tier Only Platform note), and then migrating the application tier using the process documented in the R12 Rapid Clone note. These steps and all requirements are outlined in: The operating systems certified on this platform are:
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter
  • Microsoft Web Server 2008 R2
Oracle E-Business Suite does not support Hyper-V and Server Core in Windows Server 2008 R2. Please review the documents below for all requirements and additional details on the use of EBS on this new platform. A number of external technology components are also certified with E-Business Suite R12 on this platform such as Oracle Internet Directory 11g, Oracle Discoverer 11g, Oracle Portal 11g, etc. Please review the Certifications tab on My Oracle Support for current information on platform support and certifications. Hello Mohammed -

The Database on win2kR2 will be 64bit per our migration doc's instructions, so any DB specific processes will not be limited to 2^32 RAM limit.

The application tier executables on Windows are 32-bit, but by and large there should not be an issue in running these under most workload conditions.
