[June 12, 2012 Update: Added licencing information]

Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in is now available for use with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.  Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in is an integral part of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12 Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite.

This latest plug-in extends EM 12c Cloud Control with E-Business Suite specific system management capabilities and features enhanced change management support.

The Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite includes:

  • Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in combines functionality that was available in the previously-standalone Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite and Application Change Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite with
  • Oracle Real User Experience Insight
  • Oracle Configuration & Compliance capabilities

Licensing information

A license for Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control is required to use this product. There is an additional licensing cost for the Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite.  A license for the Application Management Suite includes licenses for the E-Business Suite Plug-in, Oracle Real User Experience Insight, and Oracle Configuration & Compliance products.

This is a Development blog, and we don't have the background to discuss licensing in more detail.  We'd recommend contacting your Oracle account manager for more information about licenses.

Updates to product bundling

Features that were previously available in the standalone management packs are now packaged in the Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in, which is certified with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control:

  • Functionality previously available for Application Management Pack (AMP) is now classified as “System Management for Oracle E-Business Suite” within the plug-in.
  • Functionality previously available for Application Change Management Pack (ACMP) is now classified as “Change Management for Oracle E-Business Suite” within the plug-in.

The Application Configuration Console and the Configuration Change Console are now native components of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.

System Management Enhancements

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Base Platform uptake: All components of the management suite are certified with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control.
  • Privilege Delegation: The Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in now extends Enterprise Manager’s privilege delegation through Sudo and PowerBroker to Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in host targets.
  • Privileges and Roles for Managing Oracle E-Business Suite: This release includes new ready-to-use target and resource privileges to monitor, manage, and perform Change Management functionality.
  • Named Credentials Uptake in Cloning: The Clone module transactions now let users leverage the Named Credential feature introduced in Enterprise Manager 12c, thereby passing all the benefits of Named Credentials features in Enterprise Manager to the Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in users.
  • Smart Clone improvements: In addition to the existing 11i support that was available on previous releases, the new Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in widens the coverage supporting Oracle E-Business Suite releases 12.0.x and 12.1.x. The new and improved Smart Clone UI supports the adding of "pre and post" custom steps to a copy of the ready-to-use cloning deployment procedure. Now a user can pass parameters to the custom steps through the interview screen of the UI as well as pass ready-to-use parameters to the custom steps. Additional configuration enhancements are included for configuring RAC targets databases, such as the ability to customize listener names and the option to configure with Virtual IP or Scan IP.

Change Management Enhancements

Customization Manager
  • Support for longer file names: Customization Manager now handles file names up to thirty characters in length.
Patch Manager
  • Queuing of Patch Manager Runs: This feature allows patch runs to queue up if Patch Manager detects a specific target is in a blackout state.
  • Multi-node system patching: The patch run interview has been enhanced to allow Enterprise Manager Administrator to choose which nodes adpatch will run on.
  • New AD Administration Options: The patch run interview has been extended to include AD Administration Options "Relink Application Programs", "Generate Product Jars Files", "Generate Report Files", and "Generate Form Files".

Is this plug-in require to buy license? Or will it already bundled in other product sets?

  • Steven Chan Tuesday, June 12, 2012

    Hi, Jimmy,

I've just updated the article with more information about licenses. If you have any additional licensing questions, I'd recommend contacting your Oracle account manager. We're in Development and don't have training in licensing.

Is this plugin available only for linux? Didn't found it for other OS.

  • guest Thursday, June 14, 2012

The announcement says pre-requisite "Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c"

The download page seems pretty specific that this can only be applied to EM12c installs that include Bundle Patch 1, while the specific download reduces this requirement further to only Linux x86 and Linux x86-64

It seems the announcement is misleading for many EBS customers. Perhaps it should have been :

E-Business Suite Plug-in for Enterprise Manager 12c (with bundle 1) Now Available (For Linux only)"

Is there a schedule for it's release for other OS's (eg Solaris SPARC)?

Is this dependent on teh Bundle Patch 1 being available for other platforms?

  • Angelo Rosado Thursday, June 14, 2012

You can expect the Plug-in to be certified on Solaris, AIX, and on HP. Certification testing on Solaris and AIX is progressing very well. HP will be the last platform we plan to certify. As we complete our platform certifications we will update Certify on My Oracle Support accordingly.

  • Angelo Rosado Thursday, June 14, 2012

Kindly refer to my earlier posting on the platform rollout order. The remaining platforms will all be certified with EM 12c Bundle Patch 1. You are correct there is a dependency on the EM 12c Bundle Patch 1 being certified first on our planned platforms.

Well I did not enjoy working with this plugin so I had to remove it from my computer. Very disappointing.

    Hi, Guest,

I'm sorry that you were disappointed. We'd be interested in hearing more about specifics. Feel free to drop us a line if you'd like to share your thoughts.

  • Angelo Rosado Thursday, October 18, 2012

    Hello Guest,

By installing EM 12c and BP1 all you have is Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c. The Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite must be licensed before it can be installed. For more information on “Getting Started with Oracle Application Management Pack (AMP) for Oracle E-Business Suite, Release” please reference My Oracle Support note 1434392.1.

    Hi Steven,

I installed 12c successfully and then only knew that EBS plugin is certified only on EM 12c This leaves me in a situation that I:

    1. download the previous version of EM 12c

    2. drop my rep db

    3. fresh install EM 12c starting from zero

    4. and then install the EBS plugin.

What are your comments. Can I continue installing plugin on the latest EM 12c

  • Angelo Rosado Tuesday, October 23, 2012

    Hi Naeem,

When it comes to our EBS Plug-in the single source of truth is our ‘Getting Started’ My Oracle Support note 1434392.1. In this note you’ll find our latest certifications, required patches, links to related documentation, and more.

The good news is our certification with EM 12C R2 is well on the way already. Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification dates. Once our certification is done we will update our MOS note and make an announcement.

At this time we recommend you wait until our certification is done before attempting to deploy the EBS Plug-in on EM 12C R2. If you happen to continue with your deployment and encounter any issues support will be unable to assist you until we make a formal certification announcement.

""EBS DISCOVERY FAILS ON AMP 3.1 and 4.0 WITH ORA-20233: Either the target or the metric does not exist for Concurrent Processing Infrastructure [ID 1109394.1]"" is this note applies to "E-Business Suite Plug-in for Enterprise Manager 12c "?

We are getting error in ebs plugin ..

  • Angelo Rosado Tuesday, October 30, 2012

    Hello Guest,

Starting with Enterprise Manager 12c we have a new methodology to deliver and install plug-ins (including this management pack). I would find it highly doubtful you would be encountering the same issues as reported in previous releases.

If you have applied all the recommended patches in MOS note 1434392.1 and deploy the Fusion Middleware plug-in on all application nodes that run the web tier. And you are still encountering errors then the next logical step is to run ‘Discovery Diagnostic tests’ on your instance. Please refer to our Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Guide Release for instructions on how to run and take corrective actions.

If you are still experiencing errors, then it would be best to open a service request and let support know if you have completed a fresh install or an upgrade. In addition upload the output of discovery diagnostic tests showing the latest errors.

I would like to integrate clearcase and clearquest with ACMP. Does file host mapping allow to integrate these rational tools with ACMP or AMP 12cR1 on OEM 12c R2.

Some of old ACP 3.1 and ACMP 4.0 state source control can be integrated with 3rd party source control. How this can be achieved. Is there any documentation at OTN which can help me configure this.

    Please advise.
