In addition to helping customers resolve issues via Oracle Service Requests, Oracle Support builds free diagnostic tools called analyzers for Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2, 12.1, 12.0, and 11i. Oracle Support Analyzers are non-invasive scripts that run health checks on your EBS environments. The analyzers look for common issues and generate standardized reports that provide solutions for known issues and recommendations based on best practices.

The following document includes an inventory of all EBS analyzers:

Spotlight on the New E-Business Suite Upgrade Analyzer - 12.x to 12.2.x

Oracle Support recently released a new analyzer that helps EBS 12.x customers with the upgrade to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2. The EBS Upgrade Analyzer provides guidance and recommendations based upon the documented upgrade process in the Oracle E-Business Suite Upgrade Guide

The EBS Upgrade Analyzer evaluates your environment, determines whether all steps in each section of the upgrade guide have been completed, and if you are ready to move into the next phase of the upgrade. It provides output of critical environment information that may result when encountering a failure with the upgrade. Additionally, the tool will examine the environment for known issues that can cause concerns with the upgrade.

The EBS Upgrade Analyzer is available for download from the following document:

The following are key features of the EBS Upgrade Analyzer:
  • Runs as a standalone java program
  • Analyzes your E-Business Suite upgrade environment in an easy-to-read HTML report
  • Checks operating system requirements
  • Evaluates system setup and configuration, applied patches, and critical online patching data
  • Displays potential errors or missed steps based on the progress of your upgrade
  • Provides recommended actions
  • Collects all log files associated with the upgrade patching

Can the EBS Upgrade Analyzer be run against a production environment?

Yes. The EBS Upgrade Analyzer can be used to evaluate any environment as it is being upgraded to EBS 12.2. There is no DML in the analyzer, so it is safe to run against production environments.  As always, it is recommended to test all suggestions against a non-production (test) instance before running it in production.

We have tested this 3 times and in all 3 occasion it just runs forever, not completed even after 6 hours.

At the following phase it just stuck completely:
    Printing section "Verify_Database_Tablespace_Free_Space"
----------------------------------------------- oracle.support.proactive.hybridanalyzer.jaxb.Signature.runSqlSig: Running SQL type signature: CRITICAL TABLESPACE SIZES

Roy, I'm sorry to hear that you are encountering an issue with the analyzer.

We can provide general conceptual guidance on this blog; however, this is not the best place to get technical support for specific issues like the one that you've encountered.

Please log a service request (SR) with Oracle Support to address the issues you have encountered with the EBS Upgrade Analyzer.

    Regards,
    Elke

When it says 12.x I assume this upgrade advisor is for 12.1.x also right or just 12.2.x? I get an error saying "Analyzer is not configured to run on Apps Version 12.1!".

    Mark,

The analyzer may be used when upgrading from EBS 12.1 or 12.0 to EBS 12.2.x.
