Up until now, a new E-Business Suite Release 12.0.x Release Update Pack (RUP) has been released in the same general time-frame as each new Oracle Critical Patch Update (CPU).  For example, the January 2008 Critical Patch Update was released concurrently with the E-Business Suite 12.0.4 Release Update Pack.

This pattern changed with the recent Oracle Critical Patch Update for April 2008.  The April 2008 CPU was not released concurrently with a corresponding E-Business Suite Release 12.0.5 Release Update Pack.  Sharp-eyed readers have asked whether an upcoming Release 12.0.5 is still in the pipeline.

Here’s an update on our plans, based on what was being shared in various sessions at last week’s Collaborate conference (notably, Cliff Godwin’s sessions):  As of today, it appears that there are no plans for Release 12.0.5.  Instead, it appears that new Family Packs for Financials and Human Resources (HRMS) are planned for customers currently on the 12.0.x codeline.

It’s important to note that this is breaking news and is still subject to change.  As usual, I’m afraid that I don’t have any information about dates for these updates.  I’ll provide more details about our plans for these forthcoming updates as soon as they’re available.
