Oracle Database 11g Release 2 version 11.2.0.1 is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i (11.5.10.2) and Release 12 (12.0, 12.1) on Solaris 10 on SPARC (64-bit). This announcement includes:
- Oracle Database 11gR2 version 11.2.0.1
- Real Application Clusters (RAC)
- Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) Column Encryption
- Advanced Security Option (ASO) / Advanced Networking Option (ANO)
- Export/Import Process for E-Business Suite 11i Database Instances
The following associated database certifications are still pending:
- Export/Import Process for E-Business Suite R12 Database Instances
- Database Vault 11.2.0.1 Certification
- Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) Tablespace Encryption
As usual, Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe this blog for updates on these pending certifications.
The operating system version covered by this certification is Solaris 10; there are no plans to certify Solaris 8 and 9.

Hi Steven,
I look forward to implementing new 11gR2 features with R12 EBS. I wonder if the new features for RAC and ASM have issues with EBS or not?
Cheers,

Does this newly announced certification extend to the use of ADI (Client) with 11gR2 or is that certification still pending? We are about to embark on an 11g upgrade activity but were stalled awaiting the ADI certication (which them came at the end of last year). Obviously we'd like to go to the later 11g release - can you clarify?
Many thanks
Brian Millar
The announcment specifically says Solaris 10 - will the certification be extended to solaris 9?
Hi, Simon,
The announcement also states:
"The operating system version covered by this certification is Solaris 10; there are no plans to certify Solaris 8 and 9."
This is due to the fact that 11gR2 has not been ported to those platforms.
Regards,
Steven
Hi, Ben,
There are no issues with those new features. They are fully certified and supported with the E-Business Suite.
Regards,
Steven
Hello, Brian,
I'm afraid that the latest database release that the ADI (client/server) product has been certified on is 11gR1. The ADI team is working on their 11gR2 database certification right now.
I've passed your feedback on to them so that they know that there's continued interest in this configuration.
As usual, Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates, which I'll post as soon as soon as they're available.

Steve,
"The operating system version covered by this certification is Solaris 10; there are no plans to certify Solaris 8 and 9."
Is this an indicator that future Oracle releases may be Solaris 10 + only?
Simon,
I'm part of the E-Business Suite Development division and can't make any statements about the Oracle Database group's future plans. I can confirm that the 11gR2 11.2.0.1 release is only available for Solaris 10 and not Solaris 8 and 9.
If you'd like to get an authoritative statement about future Solaris platform support for Oracle Database, your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request against the Oracle Database product to get one of our specialists engaged.

Steven
Cheers Steve, just going through the "Premier Support for Oracle Application Server 10g ends December 2010" docs you blogged about today, hopefully this will help me drive through the upgrade plans that were blocked last year :)
Hi Steve,
Is 11gR2 RAC certified with SunCluster 3.2 on Solaris 10?
Sorry for the inconvenience caused if this is not the right section to ask this question.
Thanks
Ragesh
Hi, Rajesh,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. Yes, this combination is certified.
Regards,
Steven
Thanks Steven,
The reason for my question was, I was trying to configure 11gR2 RAC with Sun Cluster 3.2
on Solaris10(x86-64).But during the phase of integrating SunCluster with 11gR2 Grid(CRS)
using clsetup(creating resource groups) I ran into below error...
here vmsol1 -> is the node Iam running
--error_log--
clresource: vmsol1 - Error: The Oracle CRS shutdown script "/etc/init.
d/init.crs" is missing.
clresource: (C189917) VALIDATE on resource crs_framework-rs, resource group
rac-framework-rg, exited with non-zero exit status.
clresource: (C720144) Validation of resource crs_framework-rs in resource
group rac-framework-rg on node vmsol1 failed.
clresource: (C891200) Failed to create resource "crs_framework-rs".
--error_log--
Here Sun Cluster setup utility is looking for /etc/init.d/init.crs which I think is replaced
by /etc/init.d/init.ohasd [oracle HA deamon]. So I thought that may be 11gR2 is still not certified
with SunCluster 3.2 and neither I could find information on Google about this.
So Iam still unsure if 11gr2 is certified with SunCluster 3.2 why is it looking for init.crs instead
of init.ohasd.
Appreciate any help on this.
Thanks for the response.

Hi Steve,
Is 11.2.0.2 certified with 11.5.10.2 on solaris 10 sparc?
Thanks,
Krishnamoorthy
Hi, Krishnamoorthy,
Not yet. We're still working on the 11.2.0.2 certification with the E-Business Suite.
Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates, which I'll post as soon as soon as they're available.

Hi Steven,
Can you please clarify once again, if :
11.2.0.2 RAC certified with SunCluster 3.2 on Solaris 10?
Sorry to repeat the same query which you have already answered.
But trying to get a certification info for a exact version of 11.2.0.2.
As the metalink certification matrix mentions only till the latest 11.2.0.1 RAC is certified with sun cluster 3.2. If not certified yet, are there any plans to certify with suncluster 3.2 ?
Thanks
Prabhu
Hello Prabhu -
Yes, Sun Cluster 3.2 and 3.3 are both certified with 11.2.0.2 RAC - I'm working with the group responsible for these certs to ensure that the Certifications repository on My Oracle Support is updated to reflect this.
Also you can review:
http://my.oracle.com/site/pd/sss/CNT386993.pdf
which has a listing of certified combinations (page 296 on).

Hi Steve,
Currently we are running 11.5.10.2 on. S solaris 10 64 bit. We are planning to upgrade the database to 11g. Which one is better 11.2.0.1. Or 11.2.0.2
need your valuable comments as we are doing it in this weekend
Rgds
Madan
Hi, Madan,
We just announced our 11.2.0.3 certification this morning. I would recommend upgrading to 11.2.0.3 instead of either 11.2.0.1 or 11.2.0.2.
