The Digital Adoption movement is continuing to pick up with more and more companies investing in platforms, and more individuals picking up Digital Adoption skills. Instead of having only one individual responsible for developing and maintaining content, we see companies employing a team to manage their activities.
Similarly end users are beginning to appreciate the simplicity and availability of in-application guides to help them complete a process or to simply refresh them of processes. Also, System Integrators who implement and manage adoption activities for clients also are looking for ways of sharing their best practices.
The issues with sharing content with others boils down to privacy and access. There’s the question of having to develop a sandbox environment and ensure fields that are recorded/screenshotted aren’t displaying context sensitive fields that may form a privacy leak. Additionally, in-app guides are only available once the user is in their application, and traditional training needs dictate the necessity to share this content outside of these spaces.
In the last few releases, we with Oracle Guided Learning have tried to put up solutions to alleviate these two concerns.
Protecting confidentiality with Screenshot blurring fields.

Example screenshot of a guide with blurred fields
In 25B, we released Blurring fields, which allows content developers to use a blurring tool to mask sensitive data that may appear on the screenshot. This allows the users to feel confident that their data can be masked with every click and meets business concerns for the potential to share examples with external providers.
Our blurring tool is accessed in the Content Editor once a guide is captured and allows the developer to:
- Blur content – Mask details on a screen. Developers can select the level of transparency of the mask
- Re-apply Selector highlights – apply boxes on your screenshot to emphasise areas
- Upload/Download – allowing screengrabs to be downloaded/uploaded easily
Share content with users outside of the application
Now that privacy concerns have been mitigated, we can look at sharing guide content outside of your application interface if needed.
This could eventuate in the following example situations:
- Communicating an update/preview of a new application/process experience via email
- Allowing help desk operators to send a link to the guide
- Collaborate on guide building and reviews with other colleagues
- Sharing use cases and examples with other peers/companies/partners to showcase work
With Oracle Guided Learning, you have a selection of solutions at your fingertips.
Permalinks

Example Permalink from a guide
Permalinks allow guides which are developed to be shared as a link. Guided Learning creates the permalink for you and you can simply share or embed this with others as needed. This comes especially in handy when assistance needs to be made available and users have access to an environment. In addition, Permalinks can be fed into AI Digital Assistants to invoke and open guide experiences.
Simulations

Example Simulation for an APEX App
Simulations allow the developer to create a simulated step by step environment for the user to follow even when they don’t have access to an environment. This is especially helpful for sharing previews with new users to an application.
You can read how to build a Simulation and understand more use cases by visiting this blog.
Export Guides to PPT

Example Guide to be exported into PPT
You can export guides you’ve created into a PPT format if the need arises. This forms a good basis for helping other colleagues review content or present process flows for internal presentations. To export a guide, you can select more options
click on Step Guide
and then Export below.
A PPT file should be available in your Downloads Folder.
