The Middleware DPK Enablement patches are now available on My Oracle Support for PeopleTools 8.61 and 8.62:

These patches enable PeopleTools 8.61 and 8.62 environments to use the Middleware Deployment Package (MW DPK) for middleware Critical Patch Updates (CPUs) and Critical Security Patch Updates (CSPUs). They also include the Middleware DPK Builder.

October 2026 is the changeover from Infrastructure DPK to Middleware DPK. Oracle plans to deliver Middleware DPK files for PeopleTools 8.61 and 8.62 beginning with the October CPU cycle and does not plan to post any more Infrastructure DPKs. If you currently use the Infrastructure DPK, prepare your environment for the new enablement patch.

Apply the patch if you run PeopleTools 8.61.23 or earlier or 8.62.13 or earlier on Windows or Linux. No minimum PeopleTools patch level is required.

PeopleTools 8.63, 8.61.24 or later, and 8.62.14 or later include Middleware DPK support and the Builder, so customers on those versions do not need the enablement patch.

The enablement patch updates the PeopleTools DPK directory on each server to support the Middleware DPK zip file format and delivers the Builder for your PeopleTools release. It does not update core PeopleTools code, change your installed PeopleTools release level, or apply middleware security updates.

After enablement, use the established PeopleTools DPK process with the new --apply_mw_cpu option to apply a Middleware DPK to an existing environment.

The Middleware DPK gives you two options for getting the latest patches for the PeopleTools Middleware:

  • Download an Oracle-built Middleware DPK from My Oracle Support when available. Oracle builds and validates the package before publishing it. This option is for customers want a validated package to apply can can wait a few days to apply.
  • Build your own Middleware DPK when the required patches are available on My Oracle Support. The Builder creates a ZIP file for your maintenance schedule, with component selections for Java, WebLogic, Tuxedo, and Oracle Database Client. This option is for customers who need to apply patches before the validated Middleware DPK zip file is published.

Both options use the same DPK apply process to patch your environments.

To prepare for the October CPU cycle, download the enablement patch for your release and review its README for prerequisites and installation steps. Then test the Middleware DPK workflow in a non-production environment.

Middleware DPK supports PeopleTools 8.61 through 8.63 on Windows and Linux only. There is no Middleware DPK replacement for Infrastructure DPK on Oracle Solaris or IBM AIX.
