For the 2025 release, we have made significant updates, as detailed in this post.
Evolution of Cloud Architect Skills
The role of the cloud architect has undergone significant evolution in recent years and our certifications and skilling programs have been meticulously designed to mirror this expanded scope of expertise. As shown below, our architect certifications and courses are categorized into two broad segments: Generalists and Specialists.
OCI generalist cloud architects boast comprehensive knowledge across core OCI services, including compute, storage, networking, database, security, cloud-native, and automation technologies. Meanwhile, specialist cloud architects are distinguished by their proficiency in designing hybrid and multicloud architectures and in migrating workloads, data, and databases to OCI.
In this framework, OCI Architect Associate certification focuses on the core OCI Primitives – Identity, Networking, Compute, and Storage. OCI 2025 Architect Associate Certification and Course
The OCI 2025 Architect Associate certification is designed for professionals who want to demonstrate their knowledge of OCI’s core services. The updated version continues to cover core constructs such as Compute, Networking, Storage and Identity and Access Management (IAM).
This year, we have introduced:

OCI 2025 Architect Professional Certification and Course
The OCI 2025 Architect Professional certification is designed for experienced cloud architects who are responsible for designing and implementing complex OCI solutions. This advanced-level certification builds upon the Associate-level certification.
The 2025 release includes several major updates, featuring:
- Full Stack Disaster Recovery: Learn how to design and implement end-to-end disaster recovery (DR) solutions using OCI Full Stack Disaster Recovery. See how businesses can achieve resilience and minimal downtime for mission-critical applications.
- OCI API Gateway: New lessons have been introduced to provide a more in-depth understanding of API Gateway management.
- Autonomous Recovery Service: Learn about OCI’s centralized automated backup and disaster recovery solution that can provide real time protection of your data and achieve RPO to last subsecond.
- Globally Distributed Autonomous Database: Explore how Oracle enables organizations to deploy highly available and scalable globally distributed databases with autonomous management capabilities. Learn about how this service can serve to meet the data sovereignty requirements mandated by the country of operation and resilient capabilities it offers to keep your application always on.
- OCI Cache: Gain insights into low-latency caching solutions in OCI, helping businesses optimize application performance and reduce database workloads.

About the Exam
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2025 Architect Associate:
This exam is designed for individuals who possess a strong foundational knowledge of architecting infrastructure using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services. This certification validates a deep understanding of topics such as Identity and Access Management, Networking, Compute & Storage. The exam comprises 50 multiple-choice questions, which must be completed within 90 minutes. To pass the exam, candidates need to achieve a minimum score of 68%. The following table lists the exam objectives and their weightings.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2025 Architect Professional:
This exam is a Hands-on Performance Exam (HPE) that combines hands-on challenges and multiple-choice questions. This certification is designed for individuals who have hands-on experience and knowledge to plan, design, implement and operate solutions on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
The exam consists of 2 HPE scenarios and 25 multiple-choice questions, to be completed within 90 minutes. Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 68% to pass.
The HPE scenarios require that you read the assignment very carefully and perform tasks that are needed for configuring and solving the case presented in these scenarios. The evaluation of the scenario considers every task you performed. For example, if one of your scenarios requires nine tasks, and you successfully configured only seven of them, then you will get credit for the seven tasks you completed. In addition to the hands-on scenarios, the test will be complemented with multiple choice questions (MCQs). The total score will be composed of the successful tasks you complete out of your scenarios, and of the number of correct answers to the MCQs. There is no penalty for wrong answers, nor for wrong or incomplete steps.
We have also included an exam preparation lesson where we also cover scenarios similar in complexity. These lessons list the solution steps (tasks) that are needed for solving each scenario.
