What We’ll Cover (Agenda Preview)
For this fourth edition, we plan to continue building on previous discussions, with a focus on improving collaboration between the MySQL engineering team and the community, as well as refining contribution and feedback processes.
Planned discussion areas include:
- Updates on community engagement and participation
Building on previous discussions, including feedback gathered from earlier sessions and recent community activities. - Improving contribution and feedback processes
Ongoing efforts to simplify how community members can submit feature requests, provide input, and track progress. - New Feature Requests/Design Proposals and contribution workflows
Discussion around the new Design Proposal process and how contributors can participate earlier in technical discussions and roadmap alignment. - Roadmap alignment and next steps
How recent updates—including the Community Roadmap and Contributor Summit—are shaping priorities and collaboration going forward. - Open discussion and Q&A
An opportunity to share feedback, ask questions, and engage directly with the MySQL team.
Why This Matters
Across the previous editions, the MySQL community has consistently emphasized the importance of:
- clearer visibility into roadmap direction and prioritization
- predictable and transparent contribution processes
- stronger feedback loops between the community and engineering
Edition #4 continues to build on these themes, focusing on making participation more accessible and impactful.
The webinar series, Design Proposals, public roadmap discussions, and the upcoming MySQL Contributor Summit are all part of the broader effort to strengthen collaboration across the MySQL ecosystem.

MySQL Developer Guide
One of the recent additions to the MySQL Community contribution process is the introduction of Design Proposals for new feature requests.
Design Proposals are discussed in the Developer Guide and provide a structured way for contributors to:
- describe new features or improvements
- propose technical approaches
- gather feedback before implementation begins
This process is intended to encourage earlier technical collaboration and more transparent discussions around proposed changes and roadmap direction.
