Oracle Academy, in collaboration with the Oracle Technology Solutions Engineering Team, hosted an industry-academia interactive event at the Oracle Mumbai office on August 12, 2024. The event was attended by 30 faculty members representing 12 leading institutions from across the state of Maharashtra. 

The day-long event facilitated in-depth discussions between faculty members, Oracle Academy representatives, and Oracle experts. Anuradha Sharma, Head of Oracle Academy South Asia, started the day by formally welcoming the audience on behalf of Oracle Academy and Oracle. She gave an overview of the technology skills gap and how Oracle Academy is helping institutions, faculty, and their students in bridging the industry-academia gap and how faculty can prepare their students to be better equipped and career ready with industry-relevant technology knowledge and skills.

This was followed by a presentation by Salman Shaik, Senior Director, Oracle Solutions Engineering, who gave attendees an overview of Oracle as an organization, its technology stack, and how faculty can encourage their students to learn and explore Oracle technologies. Patrick Solanki, Oracle Master Principal Solutions Engineer, delivered a comprehensive presentation on Oracle’s core tech stack, enhancing the participants’ knowledge and understanding of various Oracle technologies and solutions.  

Oracle Academy faculty Institutional members who are currently actively participating and adopting Oracle Academy resources in their regular teaching and learning, Dr. Zainab Mirza, Assistant Professor, M.H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering; Dr. Jitendra Saturwar, Head of Department, Universal College of Engineering; and Prof. Omprakash Mandge, Mumbai Educational Trust, shared their experiences and best practices in utilizing Oracle Academy resources during the “Oracle Academy Adoption Best Practices” session, which resonated well with the audience, as they could relate to their peers. 

Rishi Mehtani, Oracle Vice President, Technology, also joined in the sessions, highlighting India’s potential in the technology sector and providing an overview of Oracle’s leadership in the space, also observing and listening to best practices shared by the faculty. Ritu Chaturvedi, Oracle Associate Solution Engineer, also shared her perspective as a former student and her personal journey from campus recruitment to Oracle employee, illustrating how faculty members can leverage Oracle Academy resources to enhance their students’ employment prospects. 

The afternoon sessions featured hands-on demos on Java, by Patrick Solanki, giving faculty members the opportunity to engage directly with Oracle technologies, followed by a demonstration by Bharadwaj Asokan, Lead Program Manager, Oracle Academy India, on the Member Hub, our state-of-the-art learning management portal for member educators and students. 

The event was highly successful, registering an impressive Net Promoter Score of 81, with 85 percent of participants indicating they plan to implement the insights and practices they gained during the Member Hub Workshop within the next three months. 

The Oracle Academy South Asia team along with the Oracle Tech Solutions team is thrilled to have successfully organized this event, receiving excellent feedback and appreciation from the faculty members in attendance.
