Veeam now supports Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager
We are pleased to announce that Veeam Data Platform can now be used to back up your virtual machines (VMs) running in Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager. Oracle and Veeam have jointly tested and validated protection for Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager 4.5 with Veeam Data Platform and Veeam Backup and Replication v12.1.2.
Veeam Backup and Replication, the foundation of Veeam Data Platform, is used by many organizations to help protect the applications and data that are running in on-premises data centers and in private and public clouds. Veeam Data Platform support has been available for Oracle applications and with Oracle Linux 7, 8, and 9 as detailed in the Oracle Linux and Virtualization ISV Catalog. For on-premises server virtualization support, Veeam offers integrations to centralized management platforms to allow end users to automate the backup of multiple VMs through a common interface. This integration has been extended to now support Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager.
Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager 4.5 was released in December 2023. The 4.5 release delivered support for a number of enhancements, including improved support for backup and restore with live VM snapshots. Veeam’s Backup and Replication now interfaces with the Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager’s REST API to execute VM snapshots and store them for future use in recovery operations. This integration with Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager gives Veeam customers the option to use Oracle Linux KVM as a certified server virtualization platform.
The server virtualization market has recently experienced a number of significant changes that have impacted customers running server virtualization in their data centers. Many of these customers are looking for replacement server virtualization solutions or solutions that can be used as a better and more favorable option. Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager is an on-premises server virtualization solution that has been proven to be a robust and reliable alternative for many IT operations teams. Many teams have migrated their virtual machines and services to Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager without impact to the business, and these users have shifted away from other expensive and licensed virtualization offerings to a simple and cost-effective Oracle Linux Premier Support subscription.
More information about these products can be found on the Oracle Linux Virtualization and Veeam Data Platform websites. Details on the Veeam integration with Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager can be found in the Veeam KVM backup webpage and the What’s New document.
