Those who have been checking the Oracle Solaris Cluster Information Center on My Oracle Support might be familiar with the Product Update Bulletin format. It offers the latest news and announcements about Oracle Solaris Cluster new features, qualifications and support repository updates. Going forward the summary of this information will be published on this Oracle Solaris Cluster blog.

New features enabled with Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.3 SRU 7

New features are not only delivered with releases. SRUs (Support Repository Updates) provide bug fixes that are applicable to the latest release but also updated functionalities. Here are some noteworthy updates enabled with Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.3 SRU 7 offer some of the noteworthy updates in this SRU include:

  • Securing private interconnect traffic with IPsec

The private interconnect carries traffic for internal cluster operations, user data for the global filesystems and application data. IPsec can now be configured on the interconnect to protect this traffic.

  • Simplifying configuration of ZOSS (Zones on Shared Storage) over NFS for kernel zones

The HA zone GUI wizard can now be used to configure NFS from a ZFS Storage Appliance, for kernel zones.

  • Simplifying update of ZFS Storage Appliance Data Replication properties

Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.3.7 introduces a new method to modify data replication properties for ZFS Storage Appliance.

  • Improving health checking in disaster recovery configuration.

In a geographic cluster ZFS Storage Appliance Cluster status is now monitored during probe and switchover operations

  • Simplifying the ZFS Storage Appliance NFS exceptions setup

The NAS GUI wizard has been extended to support NFS exceptions set-up.

Hardware Qualifications

  • The latest Fujitsu SPARC M12 servers, the Fujitsu SPARC M12-1, M12-2, M12-2S  servers are now supported with Oracle Solaris Cluster  4 on Oracle Solaris 11 and 3.3 3/13 on Oracle Solaris 10.

Software Qualification

  • Agents: MySQL cluster 7.5, Oracle WebLogic Server 
  • Disaster recovery: remote replication provided by the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance version OS 8.6 is now qualified for Oracle Solaris 10 zone cluster in geographic cluster configuration.

Storage Partner Update

  • Dell EMC Clariion, VPlex, VNX, Symmetrix, XtremIO storage arrays on SPARC S7 and X6 with Oracle Solaris Cluster 4
