DocuSign is replacing the basic authentication method used for REST API and SOAP API. Integration using REST APIs must switch to OAuth 2.0 and SOAP integration must switch to App Password. These changes directly impact PeopleSoft customers using Supplier Contract Management (SCMT) with integration to DocuSign for electronic signatures.
By default, SCMT uses DocuSign SOAP APIs. Unless your organization explicitly activated the Integration Broker Service Operations to use DocuSign REST APIs (delivered in PeopleSoft Update Image 31).
How can I find out which integration method we are using?
Follow the steps below to determine if you are using DocuSign SOAP APIs or REST APIs.
- Log in to PeopleSoft
- Navigation: PeopleTools à Integration Broker à Integration Setupà Service Operation Definitions
- Enter DS_ENVELOPES_POST in the search field Service Operation. If service operation does not exist, you can skip the steps below because you are using SOAP APIs integration
- Click on Search
- Select DS_ENVELOPES_POST in the search result grid
- Scroll down to the Default Service Operation Version section and look for the Active checkbox field
- If the Active checkbox is selected, then you are using REST APIs. If it’s unchecked you are using SOAP APIs integration
What to do if you are using SOAP APIs Integration?
If you determined you are using DocuSign SOAP APIs integration to sign documents, you need to generate a new password using Generate App Password in your DocuSign account. Follow the instructions in the DocuSign link below to generate a password for your account. DocuSign: App Password authentication
Once you generated an App Password, go to PeopleSoft’s Electronic Signature Setup page to update the password and save your settings. Navigation: Supplier Contracts à Supplier Contracts Setup à Electronic Signature Setup. From this point forward, DocuSign will automatically use this new App Password for all e-Signatures.
What to do if you are using REST APIs Integration?
There is no action required at this time. PeopleSoft will provide an update before DocuSign’s March 2023 deadline on how to configure DocuSign OAuth 2.0 authentication method.
Will PeopleSoft provide an update? If so, when will it be available?
