Logistics and transportation are key to business continuity, something that Corporación Colombiana de Logística (CCL) understands. With 875 employees across 10 offices, the company provides logistics, transportation, and storage services for companies in order to help them increase profits and services for their customers.
Prior to their digital transformation, CCL had been using the same accounting system since 1999. This outdated, manual system made it difficult to keep track of and secure information. Furthermore, the organization also paid significant overtime to employees to generate reports and work on accounting validations and settlements. A cloud-based solution was necessary for change.
While the company evaluated such other services including SAP and Siesa Enterprise, they ultimately selected Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and Cloud HCM because the cloud products easily worked with CCL’s existing applications, including integration with payroll and accounting.
“Oracle Cloud offered us IT security, support, and backup,” explains Alejandro Talero Calderon, CCL’s HCM and ERP Operative Leader. “Being able to establish only one process within a system that fed into other systems was the main reason that Oracle stood apart for us.”
Other applications also did not provide CCL with any real-time information, an Oracle Cloud ERP feature highly valued by the company that enabled better documentation tracing and accounting. Due to the 70-80% increase in information, Oracle Cloud ERP’s automation features also saved the company significant time that used to be spent on manual processes while enabling an 80-90% improvement in the security level of company data. This noteworthy combination of factors ultimately led to an overall 60-70% increase in efficiency in improved response time.
Additionally, Oracle Cloud HCM gave CCL the opportunity to register each employee within a system, allowing them to track an employee’s entire journey within the company, including training and achievements, as well as managing evaluations. Now, the company can trace the professional evolution of all employees, handle assessments, store documents and perform a number of additional tasks that used to be scattered across several formats—a departure from having to painstakingly track down hard copy documents.
“With Oracle Cloud HCM and Cloud ERP, we were able to continue operating during the COVID,” continues Talero. “Our people can work from home for a long period—all they need to carry out their jobs is Internet access.”
